Stupid question man. We'll field the best defense and likely the second best running game. We still have the best coach in football and we don't need an all star at QB to play dominating football. Safest pick out there if ya ask me. Obviously Auburn should start higher in the polls but that's just not gonna happen.

Ultimately, I think we're still the best team. Auburn was beyond lucky to get where they got last year. LSU could get the nod, but in recent history we've had their number which changes perception. Then there's everyone else, for now.

I think it's definitely a logically accurate consensus for now. But, we have to truly straighten out our internal team chemistry from last year, and we also have to figure out our QB situation. We will definitely miss AJ. He was a great college qb. Still, we have done a pretty damn amazing job with less than great QB play prior to him.

Because if Coker can be a competent QB Alabama has everything else they need. Deep at RB and WR.Three experienced TE's and the OLine should be better.

I saw the defense on ADay...they should be improved too. Plus Alabama's schedule is pretty favorable for the most part.

Because they have an incredibly easy schedule and play Auburn at home

because we have the most talent, we have the dream team of assistant coaches back, our defensive line and linebackers will be the best in the sec, and our secondary will be much improved. we have a giant of a qb coming in who has a rocket laser arm and is mobile, we have play makers all over the offense and a guy who likes to get the ball to the play makers as OC. with what is there on the rest of the team, if coker is serviceable we are making the playoff. if he is good or great, we will win the NC running away. deal with it. Nobody thinks you are going to be good because you essentially have the same team as last year, which was not impressive. Auburn is once again going to have a shite defense, you will not sneak up on anyone, and all indications are that nick marshall is going to try passing more this year, which is making sec secondaries rejoice. You will land at about 8-4, which is where your talent level is. No one is afraid of probably the worst defending sec champs in at least a decade

Your quarterback completed 50 percent of his passes and had zero touchdowns against the shite competition in the ACC last year. I have never seen a more overhyped player in my entire life

if coker doesnt work out we can just take 3 minutes, learn the auburn playbook, and run your bullshite with sims, since he is the same player as marshall. if we run enough plays it will stick

Saban is losing his swagger.

Never had it, but recruits still think he does. That is all that matters.

Exactly.

Saban has NEVER been a great gameday coach. He's a great recruiter who has been at the right places in his career.
He was at Michigan State in the 90s when the Big Ten was still good. Michigan has a good talent base, but Saban never did anything special there. He did just enough get him hired by a down LSU program. He locked down Louisiana in recruiting, which has one of the best recruiting bases in the country and no in-state competition. He used that talent to win NC and get the Miami job. Once in the NFL where the playing field was even and he failed miserably. He crawled back to an Alabama program that was coming off serious probation and ESPN hyped up his and Bama's return so much that the constant fellatio of media attention hyped Saban into something he never really was in the mind of recruits. That and the fact that Tuberville hated to recruit allowed Saban to lock down the state of Alabama which had some serious talent in his first full recruiting class.
He's been riding that wave of #1 recruiting classes ever since and just out-talenting and overpowering his opponents ever since.

You could argue that he isn't really that good at developing players and coaching technique since the majority of his players are busts once the reach the next level. Give me the players he's had since he's been at Bama and I wouldn't have won 3 of 4 but I would have a lot wins.

My point exactly.

Hes not a bad gameday coach by any means, but the athleticism of his players covers up a lot of errors that the coaching staff makes. Thats true at the better programs in the country, but none moreso than Alabama.

Ever wonder why Saban covets DBs, particularly safeties? They clean up mistakes.
