Isn't it sort of odd that yall still use that insult? I always took it as a slight to Texas for being very wine and cheese-ish, too refined to stand up and cheer during the game, and more concerned with the social aspect of game days than the actual game.

Nowadays, tamu has little on field success and (maybe not all tamu fans are like the ones on this board) all we hear about is facility upgrades and money and boosters and club suites, etc. etc. Face it, tamu lost its edge. It's basically the Oregon of the south without the on field results.

You just can't get by in the SEC West with holes, not without a lot of luck. The talent is just too deep.

The SEC West has two really good teams in it. That's one more than the mighty Pac12N and even with the Big12 and the ACC Atlantic and the B10 East. If A&M beat SC this weakend they are going to have beaten one team with a winning record (and that team has a signature win over who -- KY?)

You've feasted on shitty OOC competition, played at home/Houston.

Sure, teams like Alabama and LSU are going to make your players have bruises the next day, but this idea that you endure some murderers row is pure fantasy.

Your accomplishment this year is Mississippi State. And given their record, that's not a whole lot.

Possible real accomplishments over good teams before the season is over:

Win over LSU
Bowl game win.

9-3 means you didn't beat anyone who posed a real challenge this year.

Buena suerte.

It's pretty simple really. Their talent level is about 3rd or 4th in the west.

average recruiting classes of other notable teams:

LSU
2015: 6
2014: 2
2013: 6
2012: 14
2011: 8
avg: 7.2

Alabama
2015: 1
2014: 1
2013: 1
2012: 1
2011: 1
avg: 1

Auburn
2015: 11
2014: 6
2013: 8
2012: 11
2011: 5
avg: 8.2

Texas A&M
2015: 10
2014: 5
2013: 10
2012: 16
2011: 35
avg: 15.2

We heard to no end how great Speedy Noil (5 stars!) was and he's caught 9 passes for 89 yards in 5 games thus far this year. Is Noil emblematic of the problem in College Station?

Had Sny_er as DC which has been corrected.

Had to run off best LB and DT from 2013 class.

Have had a tremendous number of injuries at LB position.

I saw that and resisted the urge to make the obvious joke about what soft tissue he injured.

LSU and 'Bama have been a problem. Auburn? Seriously?
Yes, seriously. AU's classes have been right on par with aTm's the last 3 years and they've won the SEC and played in the NC game recently.
OP: Why have TAMU's recruiting classes produced so little success?

Answer: Because LSU, Bama, Auburn

The "Answer" implies that "Auburn" is a causative agent in TAMU's "lack of success." That is not the case.

Auburn had one good year, during which they beat the Aggies by an overwhelming 4 points. I congratulate them for their success that year, but they are not (in any way) a factor in TAMU's struggles.

TAMU has played Auburn three times since joining the league. Auburn won one close game, TAMU won one close game, and one game TAMU pummeled Auburn like a redheaded stepchild.

TAMU has had problems. LSU and 'Bama are certainly two of those problems. Auburn is not.

TAMU "since realignment" shite is tired. Just stop. AU has had some damn good teams recently. No one gives a shite about your arbitrary timeline.
Thread specifically addresses the three most-recent years. TAMU posters address the last three years.

LSU poster calls the response "arbitrary." WTF are they teaching in Baton Rouge? Clearly, it is not reading comprehension.

Au was in the NC in 2013. The same year they beat TAMU. I think it's fair to say they were in your way that year.
A team that played in the National Championship Game beat us by four points.

Sorry, but I won't be tearing my clothes over that one.

AU is in the same division and has recruited at the exact same level. Saying they are not a factor is ignorant.

Again, ignorant.

So? AU has hardware, aTm doesn't. The moral victories you're reaching to obtain are making you look dumb.

For the third time, ignorant.

To be very, very honest, I am a bit disappointed in the NATURE of our recruiting (esp. 2013). Coaches should recruit for both talent and character. It is well-documented that we seem to have recruited a larger-than-average number of individuals with severe character flaws.

It is not clear whether our coaching staff was unaware of the character issues for these individuals, or not. Perhaps Sumlin simply does not care about the latter element, but I suspect the problem is somewhat different.

When Sumlin arrived, we had such a problem with the "talent" end that he (I think) was forced to slacken on the "character" end of things.

It is my hope that some small measure of success and greater national exposure will allow the Aggies to be somewhat more selective on the "character" front.

RB10 rode the short, yellow bus, didn't he?
quote:

Moral Victory: a defeat that can be interpreted as a victory on moral terms, for example because the defeated party defended their principles.

You really shouldn't be using terms that you do not understand.

Vandy saying "we were beaten, but we follow the rules and produce scholars" is a claim of "moral victory."

TAMU saying "we were barely beaten by a very good team that played in the NC Game" is not. There is no "moral" element in this statement.

I know some very bright folks who attended LSU. Tell the truth, you didn't actually attend a single class there, did you?
