I would rank Celtics/Lakers, Cowboys/Skins', Notre Dame/USC etc. waaaaay down the list. You cannot possibly tell me those rivalries are equal to that of teams who are in the same or bordering states. No sir..

Yanks/Redsox, Giants/Eagles, Alabama/Auburn, Ohio State/Michigan, Texas/Oklahoma, Packers/Bears/Vikings, Duke/North Carolina, and so on.... All great rivalries. Outside of the New York, Jersey, Philly markets I think college rivalries are way more intense than any pro rivalry.

It's #1 in college football. The ratings don't lie. I don't know much about European Football, but I would imagine those are more intense.

Quite simply, pro rivalries don't invoke the same passion on the same scale, as a general rule.

Stupid statement.

I guess people in the southeast are just wired differently when it comes to college vs pro rivalries. I am a Titans fan, but the Titans don't really possess a big rival. We just choose to hate on which ever team is leading the AFC south.

Rivalries are rivalries, IMO. Just because one is college and the other pro doesn't lessen the vitriol.

I think this might have to do with y'all being a transplanted team

Some people are wired differently; some aren't.
I, for one, don't get nearly as amped over pro sports (since my Oilers were murdered) as I do their collegiate counterparts.
And I'm certainly not of southeastern ilk.
That's just it: Everyone's different.
What makes the rivalry great to those in the state of Alabama likely doesn't have the same effect in Wisconsin.

Question: Do you pull for the Texans now?

Just wondering. Mrs. T is from Houston and likes the Texans (as much as she likes any sports team ), but she wasn't really old enough to appreciate the Oilers back in the day.

Nah bro, they were just reincarnated. There is room on the Titan bandwagon.
