You must be talking about 3-4 years at a new school. I do know that neither Saban,Bryant, nor Meyer won a championship in 3-4 years of becoming a head coach
Correct new hire.
Richt is not tier 1 head coach material and blue blood programs would have fired him by now

Sumlin is not very good. Good recruiter...not a good coach

So spurrier wasn't good at Florida I guess. Took him seven.

we'll see. I think he has all the pieces he needs now. if he doesn't contend for the West this year and next, then I'll be pretty down on him.

Other than proving to be one of the most overrated coaches of all-time he has done well.
Cock fans can rest easy knowing they may win a couple games this year

Your avatar logo looks like the mouth on a sexdoll. Er, so I've heard.

Isn't there a yankee board you can hang out on?
Posted on 9/24/15 at 12:52 am to ohsfan281
So you'd fire a coach that pretty much lives in the top 10? And he's been razor thin close to 3. Trust me, I felt every dam one of them.

Why do I need to hang out on a Yankee board? If you think my username is for Ohio State, you obviously fit the stereotype that southerners are stupid

SOS one of the most overrated coaches of all time? The stuff you learn on the Internet....

3-4 years
Almost all coaches considered the best of all-time have done this
Unfortunately Richt is a second tier coach
Took Mac Brown 7 at Texas. And he could pool all of that Texas talent.

Question is: Who will Georgia get that's better than Richt? He has GA in the hunt for the East every year it seems.
Lane Kiffin.
Nuh-uh.
Will.
Mother.

what's the point in playing if you're not playing to win a championship?
Ya'll just built a shiny new addition so your team can continue to not play to win a championship.
Some coaches just aren't championship caliber coaches at their specific programs. That doesn't mean you should fire them because it's unlikely that you will get anything better and your team will move from mediocrity to a complete dumpster fire.

I am just wondering because I know some Georgia fans who think Mark Richt needs more time even if he doesn't win it this year. 15 years seems more than an adequate amount of time imo. I am cufious as to what other people believe
CMR is only in his 3rd year @ UGA under a new President who appreciates and accommodates athletics. He now has vast resources along with a renewed booster following eager to donate whatever's needed to get things done that were denied in his first 11-12 years.
I also agree on the five year plan and he's year three into it.

What if Florida State did that with Bowden? 16 years. Or nebraska with Tom Osborne? 22 years. Paterno 17 years. Currently Gary Patterson. Frank Beamer
If you're consistently winning conference championships and going to major bowls that's a sign of a good coach. You also have to have a little luck to get into a NC situation. Like LSU in 2007. Like Bama 2011. Who missed out on that kind of luck? Auburn 2004, TCU last year. But you're going to tell me Gary Patterson is a bad coach?
If NC's are the only sign of a good coach to keep or fire, Gene chizik should be in the college football HOF correct?

So sumlin has what a year to win a title or he's gone? I think if a coach is winning 8 plus games in the sec you keep him if 8 wins is his floor and most years your looking at 10 wins. SEC west is brutal. MR is a good coach and recruiter. Keep him until he leaves
Posted on 9/24/15 at 6:16 am to winston318
it's so hard to win a natty. I mean aside from Meyer and Saban, who has won one in the last 5 years? Jimbo? Look at FSU now. Tons of talent but without Jameis that offense ain't clicking. Most coaches need that perfect storm to win. Meyer and Saban are on an entirely different level. That said, you should have. 10 win season within the first 5 years if your coach is worth a damn.

It depends entirely on program; treating Iowa St like Bama is ludicrous.

All depends on the Expectations of the AD and his employer Not the Fans..
