Last week he made two tweets and had two grown men that are members of the media and employed by major sports news organizsations belittle him. He shot back...I actually liked it.

HIm not fulfilling his obligatoins at the Manning Camp were bad but Archie kicked him out. HOw going to a party or going out at all is newsworthy is beyond me.

I mean, its funny. The kid is douchebag but so what...there are douchebags everywhere. Most 20 year olds are douchebags.

I just personally hold people to a higher standard. His pops should have given him an arse kicking at some point and set him straight.

What this tells me is that the Aggies have not handled his success any better than he has. They are all to blame

I don't think anyone has a problem with him going to a party. It's the amount of parties he is going to and how much he is drinking. And it's obviously a problem if his family is concerned.

Ill say it again. I would much rather have JFF and his douchebagery on my team, than a Tyrann Matheiu that is guilty of douchebagery, and failing multiple drug tests, and getting kicked off the team.

Ill take the eligible douchebag all day

Exactely...so why is what this kid does on the weekend of interest to Wright Thompson?

His only crime was he wore a NFL jersey.

I'm supposed to feel sympathy for a rich kid with amazing athletic talent, a free ride through college and all the perks along with being the most popular kid on campus... all because his douchey behavior gets judged?

All people engaging in that kind of behavior gets judged. He's in a national spotlight, so he gets nationally judged.

IF my parents knew how many parties I went to during the summer months...they'd have been worried too.

There are tons of college football players that are "just a collge kid"...he should be able to as well.

And when they frick up, it's made a big deal of.

I'll grant you that it's not as big a deal as with a Heisman winner, but it's a big deal. It gets a text link on ESPN or the local paper and gets posted on tRant, where rival fans casty and tut-tut about the death penalty, TPOSes and Fulmer Cup points.

Face it. A large amount of high-profile players of all ages have handled the spotlight with far more aplomb and maturity than Johnny has. Some have had as big a spotlight (Tebow, Cam) and some haven't.

Johnny just can't seem to handle it.

i have no ill will towards jff but i have no sympathy for him either. i'm a woman- i really don't want his chicks or to be a heisman winner. but i guess i'm jealous too.

And how about the biggest spotlight any young sports star has ever had in this country.

Did LeBron ever act like this, I don't really remember but I don't think he did. And he had $80 million or so from Nike when he turned 18.

And I know the whole decision spectacle/debacle, but that was a single event and it wasn't until he was much older.

ETA: and piggi, you're super jel

I don't feel sorry for him. You are right. He is a rare talent, and will get judged in the national spotlight. I just think the way that his actions are "criminalized" by the media is pathetic. JFF is the same guy that he has been all along. The difference is that the media glorifies him, he enjoys the fruits of the glory, then the media turns around and criminalizes the same behavior that they once glorified.

My issue is grown men enjoying a young mans collegiate game, and then passing judgement on the young man for acting like a young man.

It is just pathetic to me, and the majority of the guys that make such a big deal about his behavior are simply jealous that they will never know what it is like to experience what he experiences.

I never tested my father but once growing up, I learned my lesson. It was instilled in me at an early age. This generation..not so much...

If parents would stop blaming everyone around the child for the child's actions.....maybe a message of personal responsibility might get through. But it is always every else's fault...

That article made me think lesser of the Aggies than Manziel to be honest unless his dad is talking out of his butt that is. Pending this is true, does this create turmoil between him and the staff during the season?

The things his Dad is most mad at A&M about is making money and getting pub off his son while he gets nothing and that A&M's Compliance office is extremely thorough and cooperative with the NCAA more than he would like.

Oh, and that some AD official apparently didn't respond to one of his texts about something fast enough for his liking.

A&M can't pay Johnny or his Dad anything, that's the rules. They also need to be extremely careful to make sure Johnny is staying compliant both for A&M's sake and for Johnny's. There are vultures everywhere that would LOVE to nail Johnny getting improper benefits and end his college career. Yet his Dad has a problem with this?

Daddy Manziel needs to realize that in spite of everything his son is still a scholarship athlete at A&M and subject to the same rules as everyone else. He also needs to realize that A&M has to put the school and program ahead of the interests of any individual player because if they don't they jeopardize the other 84 guys on scholarship as well as many other things.

If anything it sounds like the only one giving Johnny good advice is his counselor that A&M provided. Get off Twitter and lower your profile. His Dad is buying him alcohol, letting him jet off to wherever he wants, and then going to ESPN to talk about it.
