Weird. A few months ago that list said Ole Miss. Looks like someone went in and changed it

I would say Ole Miss is the flagship. They were established first, they're bigger, & they have a bigger endowment. Neither are in the top 50 in research so I don't know who spends more there.

Very true. And State was established by the state of Mississippi and given land by the state because the farmers in Mississippi didn't want to send their kids to Ole Miss.

they're bigger

Just counting main campuses, State is bigger but if you count UMMC (Which is part of the University of Mississippi system) Ole Miss is larger. But that's considered "cheating" by some people.

Both schools have certain fields they excel at. State's engineering program is one of the best in the country and Ole Miss' accounting school is consistently ranked in the top 20-25 in the country.

The "They're" is referring to OM.

Also, I think MTSU is the biggest in TN now so the Vols would be little brothers to the Blue Raiders.

Umm no.

UT is a system school. Even if MTSU established a larger campus, endowment or funding (which I'd seriously like to see proof of that) they'd have to compete with UTK, UT Medical (Knoxville), UT-ORNL/Battelle (Oak Ridge), UTC, UTMartin, UT Medical School, UT Space Institute etc. to even come close.

scrooster: you're a fricking retard if you think aTm is a "lil' brother" school and not a flagship. The state of Texas has two flagships. Some states have five of them (see California). I'm sure someday Texas will have one or two more flagships.

Seeing how USC is not an AAU member and Clemson is, seems like yall are the "lil' brother."

And by the way, we spend oodles more on research than any other school in the SEC.

I know. I was just saying that if we're talking about main campuses that State is bigger. I agree with you on all points though

Clemson is not AAU nor has it ever been AAU, where did you ever get such a thought?

By that metric, Alabama is an top academic school? UAT + UAB + UAH = Alabama system schools. Pretty sure nobody is going to say UAT is on the same level as Harvard or Stanford when it comes to academics.

Some of you are so insecure about yourselves (or about life in general?) that you do nothing on tSECr but start pissing contest threads (i.e., biggest IPF, best weight room, most trees on campus, best statue, greatest rivalry, tailgating champ, etc.).
Here's an idea: take a breath, go outside, and enjoy the gift of life?
Side note: I would be proud to have my kid attend any school in the SEC.
Now shut tf up

Pretty sure deep down, most everyone on here has pissed on some trees on campus.

Solidarity my brothers!

Let's go by your fan gear metric. 1. Unsupportable claim as personal observation is hardly science 2. MTSU fans are UT fans as well.

Hell, ETSU fans are UT fans, AP fans are UT fans, even those who attend Vandy from instate are often UT fans. About the only instate program that has a decent portion of non-UT fans (though they still have some) is UMemphis.

Then Nashville is an Alabama town.

Seriously, I see lots of Bama gear there (especially at the Shoney's)

You know by the way, this is not aimed it you personally.

We can't seem to get rid of the Bammer invasion. They flee their own state and take over our shoney's and waffle houses.

USN has Auburn at 103. I think that would be a semi acceptable line.
