DeeepBlue on the Auburn scout board probably wrote it

Jesus, it seems that kids on here don't seem to think there are people old enough to actually remember how it got stuck to LSU.

The year was 2003, LSU was 11-1 going into the SECCG for a re-match with UGA. The earlier game with UGA was a close match, with LSU pulling it out in part with an improbable TD catch by Skyler Green. Given that the game was so close, and played at Tiger Stadium, the 10-2 Dawgs like their chances in the rematch in their own state.

In the weeks leading up to the Big Game there appeared on a UGA football bulletin board (yes, they used to be called "bulletin boards" - maybe the precursor to the Dawg Rant) a post that had been admittedly swiped from a Midwestern board in which the opposing fans were said to have the distinct aroma of the popular carnival treat, 'corn dogs'. There were many gaffaws as UGA fans were confident in their up coming victory against the Tigers of LSU.

On the way to LSU's first championship season in 45 years, UGA lost the SECCG in a blowout, 34-13. The UGA bulletin boards fell silent on the matter of corn dogs, and that would have been the end of the story except for...

The following season, 2004, as Auburn was preparing for their annual showdown in what had come to be an intense, closely fought series with LSU, one of the Auburn faithful had remembered seeing the 'corn dog' thread on the UGA board. They thought they would have some fun and re-post it (Wayne's?) soon after it appeared on an, at the time, popular LSU message board, The Tiger Lair.

In what was a bitterly fought, closely contested game, ending on a rarely called penalty allowing the Plain Tigers to escape with a 1-point victory over the defending national champion Tigers of LSU, the 'corn dog' post was celebrated.

To this day, had the LSU brand of Tigers won on that September day on the plains of Auburn, the 'corn dog' post would have dropped off into obscurity. Alas, it was not to be. And so, almost as a talisman of luck, the post is resurrected every year by the Auburn faithful in a, usually, vain attempt at recapturing the luck of the talisman.

And there we have it. Not only did an Auburn fan not compose the epic post, but they are not even responsible for bringing it to the conference and applying it to the LSU Tiger fans. And had that one point game back in 2004 swung in the other Tiger's direction, it would likely have died an anonymous death.

Truth as I actually remember it.

ETA: Come to think of it, it may have been this board, and not the Tiger Lair, as the Lair had gone over to a pay site by 2004.

Plus, it makes no sense and thus has flustered LSU fans for years.

it makes as much sense as calling people from auburn "educated" or "classy" when they throw toilet paper in trees as a celebration.

I greatly look forward to this thread very year. Everyone but LSU gets the real joke, and that is simply the reaction it causes.

LSU fans:

"Arg! This is so stupid! It doesn't bother us at all, but it doesn't even make sense YOU STUPID frickING BARNERS!!!! Not mad at all but frick YOU!!!!!! ARGGHHHHH!!!!!"

Precisely.

when I was at auburn in 2008, I saw an auburn fan go up to an lsu fan, get really close, and attempt to sniff him. he looked back at his buddies with their sweatshirts wrapped around their waists and shoulder as they were laughing.

when he attempted to "smell" the LSU fan a second time, he got popped in the left side of his head and was dropped like a sack of potatoes. The corndog joke wasn't funny at that point and all of his bro buddies wanted to fight.

Personal space. If I don't know you and you're getting that close to me, you'll at least get an unfriendly shove.

How is this not common sense?

Yall do realize if you'd stop being weeping vaginas about the corndog thing, it'd cease to be entertaining right?

Maybe we could get bannage for starting stupid threads

Of course, we wouldn't have a board if this happened. So, continue with the corndog references.

The original LSU corndog essay

On a personal note, I love me some corndogs. However, Jaguar fan answers this best...

Truly, at some point the War Eagles/Plainsmen/Tigers are going to have to come up with something orginal to indicate their dislike/utter disdain for the LSU Tigers. You cannot continue to blatantly steal from the Big 12. It is (quite frankly, among friends) unseemly. Looking forward to what that might be. I know you have it collectively in you. I know you do.

#HailState fans - would like to put you on a retainer to provide possible tGrind assistance to the War Eagles/Plainsmen/Tigers. Thanks.

(pretty sad when I have to sub-contract out a decent troll )

we get more enjoyment out of it than they do.

Explaining why they call us that to people who have never heard it is the best part...they say wow they are dumb
