The Faux-hatred of UT from Bama fans

To be fair, I think LSU's lack of a legitimate rival is part of why so many LSU fans struggle to understand the rivalry between Alabama and Tennessee

No one struggles to understand what a rivalry is but you knuckle draggers legitimately think you're being original when you repeat it ad nauseam.

It's a fact that LSU struggles to have a rival.

Well there's certainly no reason for LSU fans to want a objective structural disadvantage in the scheduling process but the great majority of us don't want to lose the Florida game. If y'all could go back to being a better program than Florida like you were during the segregation era, it would be much appreciated. TIA.

In all seriousness, I can understand this. It's easy to see in-state rivals from an outsider's perspective, like UA-AU. But the "great" out of state rivalries are not difficult unless they're obvious. OU-Texas, Mich-OSU, USC-ND, Fla-ND, etc. etc.

Honestly, I don't think anyone outside of the SEC would have any idea that UA-UT consider themselves to be rivals. It's not on anyone's radar from a national perspective.

My post from a better thread:

quote:

I used to hate Tennessee. Lately I've just felt a deep and abiding pity for them.

I may be easily amused, but that tickles the shite out of me.

That's how I feel, but it wouldn't take much to crank the hate back up. And it's everything about Tenn that I hated, except I didn't hate any of the fans that I knew.

I used to like everything about LSU. Except the fans that I knew.

Why do you care? Other than being annoyed that Bama fans have two rivals, neither of which are LSU.

Yeah, and the LSU Swamp Taliban makes about 14 schedule threads a day. You might bring the message of originality back to your own folks.

fricking this. I love the UF game, though I don't hold any special hatred for them like UA claims to have against UT. Usually just a fun game - but I also don't like an inherent disadvantage each year when our biggest division competitors get to play weaker sauce.

I'd bet the vast majority of these younger ones don't even realize that historically LSU is not really considered a rival by any SEC team other than Ole Miss.

quote:

Does anyone not realize that? I don't know of anyone who actually claims we have a rival anymore - Ole Miss is the closest thing, simply b/c of our history. But the results on the field in the last decade have diminished that greatly, despite Les Miles' best efforts to keep it going.

I'd be willing to bet that if you started a thread today asking who LSU's main rivals are the vast majority of LSU posters would list Bama first before Ole Miss. And if you went back 10 or so years and asked the same question they would have listed Auburn first before Ole Miss. But on the other hand neither Bama nor Auburn fans would have really ever listed LSU as a true rival.

LSU fan jealous that Bama fans don't think of them as a rival? Shocked
No interest in UA as a rival, just a big game. No interest in a rivalry with you either, sorry.

LSU fans probably make two or three times the amount of threads about Alabama than Alabama fans make about LSU. Maybe even four or five times as many, during certain time periods.

There are about 90 times the amount of LSU fans registered here than Alabama fans. Think about that.

Is that why y'all agreed to play us on Thanksgiving instead of Arkansas? We're your new rival, bitch.

I didn't agree to shite. You're nothing but a team that hasn't beaten us in 20 years to me.

LSU fans just need to admit that you don't know what a real rivalry is. We're all so sorry that you can't grasp the easy concept that is a rivalry.

And you're nothing but a poor bayou swamp freak who cancelled the series in the 90's and still hasn't paid us for the remainder of the contract. Them tiger stripes are yellow, alright.

The "Third Saturday in October" is one of the biggest dates in college football and the Bama vs. Tennessee game is why. Anyone who does not know this simply does not know college football.
