Alabama 2009 was not a great team. Solid team, very few stars and played a weak arse schedule. That team would lose to all of the above teams no doubt

Alabama finished the season beating Florida and Texas, each getting their only loss of the season vs Alabama.

Three top 10 wins, 5 top 25 wins. Final opponents were a combined 26-0 vs teams not named Alabama.

1998 Tennessee beat 2 Top 10 teams, 5 Top 25 teams. They also beat 8 teams with winning records, as opposed to Alabama's 11.

2004 Auburn beat 5 Top 25 teams, 2 Top 10. They beat 5 teams with winning records.

Your argument is invalid, my friend.

1992 Alabama (13-0)
1998 Tennessee (13-0)
2004 Auburn (13-0)
2009 Alabama (14-0)
2010 Auburn (14-0)

All the others had a blemish on the scoreboard.

Yeah, as good as some of those one-loss teams were, it's hard to put them at the top considering they lost a game...

I really wish there was a way to watch 2004 and 2010 Auburn face off. The unstoppable force in Cam Newton going up the best scoring defense of 2004, while Auburn's dynamic duo at running back goes up against the SEC's best rush defense of 2010. Would 2004 Auburn find a way to stop Cam Newton? Would 2010 Auburn find a way to hold 2004 Auburn down enough to win? Would be fun.

Not every season is like the other. I'm willing to bet 2008 Florida would beat most of the teams you listed.

And equally potato to punish a team for playing FSU during the peak of their 90s run instead of a Citadel, ULM, or Louisiana Tech.

I'd add the Tennessee 99 team even tho I know they didn't win it all and had a lackluster (at best) season. They were arguably far more stacked than the 98 team. What a waste of talent.

That said, performance wise they don't deserve to be in the convo - didn't earn it.

I have no problem with them being left out because we lost in conference play.

IF you have a LOSS you cannot be the greatest of anything. Anyone who includes a team with a loss is a moron.
bullshite. You put 2011 Alabama and 2011 LSU in different seasons, both go undefeated and win national titles by big margins. Their losses cancel out (road win in "game of the century"/national title rematch). Both of those teams should be way up the list.

06 is probably the best LSU team of the BCS era.

3rd behind 2003 and 2011

06 had the best balance. Y'all were #86 in total offense in 11.
shite, I'd argue 06 LSU was the most talented SEC team during the BCS period, not just LSU.

By that logic, 2007 Hawaii should have been ranked #1 going into bowl season.

Florida only played one more ranked team than Auburn, and it's not Auburn's fault another team backed out of the schedule...

We're talking about SEC teams, not WAC teams.

Their schedule and beginning ranking point didn't allow them to be #1 entering bowl season.

2006 LSU would be the team I'd most want going into a playoff, that's for sure.

2011 LSU (and Bama) had holes in their offense, which burned LSU, and I think could have burned 2011 Bama in a format like last year.

2005 LSU, had there been a better schedule that season, could have been undefeated. Both losses were from exhaustion (Tennessee was emotional burnout, and Georgia in the SEC championship was physical from never having a bye). Absolutely slaughtered Miami after getting to rest awhile.

2011 would beat 2006. Just like Florida and Auburn did. Although LSU did piss away that Florida game.

You're right, 04 Bowling Green was the same as 96 FSU.

I think a big problem early on was Miles not letting Jimbo have complete control of the offense.
