Georgia is the best job in the SEC per Nick Saban

quote:

“You never know how people do, but I think he’ll do fine,” Saban told Dennis Dodd of CBSSports.com. “Personally, Georgia, if it’s not the best job in the conference, it certainly should be.”

I mean he's not wrong, with such a talent rich state and the only other in state team you have to compete with is Georgia Tech.

We don't really even go after the same recruits. So if you want to draw borders, sure - we're all alone. But if you look realistically - Clemson, Auburn, South Carolina, and Alabama may as well be "in state" teams.

Just putting more pressure on his former defensive coordinator.

Typical classy coach speak. And still, some gump will still feel emotionally abused by it

Then why did he complain when Mediocre Mark was fired?

I guess, still hypocritical. Said he couldn't believe it when Richt was fired and then called the Georgia job the best in the conference when they have underachieved for many years.

Maybe he's too focused on winning to remember what he said? I personally dont think he gives a lick. Saban's got his retirement plan mapped out and it doesn't include any Universities besides Bama

In terms of straight up natural potential: Florida, UGA, LSU, and Alabama are pretty much interchangeable, and would succeed at an equal level given the right coach. The problem is there are usually 1 to maybe 3 coaches a generation that could maximize any one schools potential.

Georgia Tech has double the championships though.

Maybe he doesn't think what Richt was doing was "underachieving".

I'm sure he is keenly aware that he is the best coach in the world. Not everyone is going to win 4 national titles in 7 years. He thought Richt was a good teacher, had good players and won a lot of games.

I would add Texas A&M to that. And if the state of Mississippi combined Ole Miss, Miss. St., and Southern Miss. into ONE university, located on the Gulf Coast, they would wreck shite in this conference.

It has been that way the last 20 years. The problem is they can never get the right coach to take them over the hump. I always feared a Bobby Petrino type coming in there and cleaning house with the fans and administration, and shutting down the boarder to recruiting. UF use to have that position, but FSU and some poor coaching hires made the program slip over time. I have my doubts Kirby will do much better.

Agreed. And I feel like LSU just missed out three times.

We had this generations in Saban. But he had the NFL itch he just had to scratch, and Bama got lucky Rich Rod said no

Our second miss was Spurrier. Everyone knows the story we passed on Spurrier for Archer

And the third

Great recruiter. But with everyone on the same playing field when it comes to facilities/tradition of a school like Bama, I'm not sure he's even in the top 5 in college football today
