So, you mean Miles chose an actual DB coach rather than hiring a guy with almost no experience with the position?

Someone alert the presses!!

ETA: I have no idea what I was trying to type the first time. It made zero sense.

I'm not trolling you guys or trying to get you riled up. A strong LSU Is good for A&M, and vice versa.

And school that hired Steele as a DC was gonna get hear about it.

Hear about how much better of a LB coach and recruiter he is than his predecessor? We heard and now we see.

70 and 50, but yeah otherwise you nailed it.

I was close. I still think top 50 is way too low to win anything of importance.

Last 5 years:

50th: 24.9 PPG

SEC Champ: 17.3PPG

Nat. Champ: 15.5PPG

Both 17.3 and 15.5 are easily within the top 20 every year. Even with aTm's offense, a mediocre defense isn't going to win many titles.

Good thing you wanted a LB coach and not a DC, because Steele has been fired from the DC job a few times.

Seems like it worked out for yall.

His first two years at Clemson were stellar. Fell off a bit in year 3, but the WV game is blown out of proportion. His D gave up 8 TDs, not 10, and defended short fields for several of those... Only gave up 30 yards or so more than Chavis' D did to WV that game.

Wrong. We could give a shite about your under achieving program. We have been pretty damn dominate prior to you showing up and will continue to be the better program going forward.

A&M could very well finally beat LSU this year, but it wont be because of Chavis.

If it happens, as far as we are concerned it will be 100% because of Chavis.

I think it is. As you said 50th was around 25 points per game.

Last season Oregon allowed 22.3 points per game and Ohio St. allowed 22.1:

Your "last five years" perspective doesn't really count because Saban is ruining the curve. When looking at last year teams giving up over 20 points per game were in the hunt.

Ok then

In scoring defense, 2 of the last 8 BCSCG participants were ranked outside the top 15. Of the 4 playoff teams, 1 was ranked outside the top 35, and you saw what tOSU Oregon did to those teams.

You can spin it all you want, but defense still wins championships, and the numbers prove it. Again, a mediocre defense is not going to win a title unless a Cam Newton type player is under center, and I don't think aTm, or anyone else, has a player like that on the roster.

So this is just Chavis advocating for Derek DOoley right?

Steele has two of the top position coaches in the country working with him now. Sh*t I could call the plays on defense this year and still have a better defense than A&M the past few years.

Steele has done more for LSU in recruiting alone than Chavis has done for aTm

Battle over the better hire so far...

LSU 1
aTm 0

I don't know if a Cam is on the roster now, but Texas makes a Cam-level QB every couple of years. We just need to be ready for him and have a ton of WRs and a top 50 defense.

That is the plan.
