It does nothing to change the fact that Texas A&M wanted to show a long-term, secure commitment to their guy. Going through "what ifs" every single time a coaching vacancy comes available is a distraction to everyone.

They rewarded him for the job he's done; and they're showing confidence in his future achievements. The fact that other programs would've handled the situation differently is a moot point.

This.

He is not getting overpaid if other programs (including the NFL) can come and take him away, leaving us with a HUGE roll of the dice ahead that could cost us 4-5 times that much.

He is worth EVER GODDAMN PENNY for THIS REASON ALONE:

1. Alabama
2. Tennessee
3. A&M

You're trying too hard. It's ok. I know it's easier to troll than remember your last conference victory.

Meh, aggy and UT have similar classes this year, and UT is already ranked #1 for 2015.

You are looking in the wrong place.

Texas will always get theirs, even in down years.

What is happening is we are getting OU's talent. Their 2014 class isn't even top 25 so far when they were a top 15 lock for a decade.

That is how Sumlin earned his 5 million a year. Arky would kill for the kind of talent we are going to sign in Feburary.

Sherman was a pretty good recruiter too, just look at every good player on your team. All Sherman recruits.

Shermans failures at recruiting defense is the reason we didn't do more in JFF's last season. Sumlin is recruiting the kind of defensive players that have not come to A&M since RC's peak.

I don't remember anyone saying He Gone because he's such an amazing coach, just that USC might be interested. Then it was revealed that USC never offered. Now he's getting a big raise without any tangible results to speak of.

This guy loves his career choice

Sumlin at $5 m for winning nothing
Saban at $10m and anything other than a national title will be a failure
LSU raising ticket prices and donation fees for football and baseball at today's board meeting

College football salaries are getting out of hand and if schools think they can charge whatever they want for tickets and donation fees they better think long and hard about the average joe fan there about to lose.

Tell me more about Sumlin and this "defense" you speak of. He has never had a good defense in his career.

You think colleges are worried about the average joe fan?

Well, he has also never recruited three top 15 classes in a row in his career but that is about to happen.

This current one is about to possibly be the best recruiting class in our history. 2015 is shaping up to be pretty special as well. If Daylon Mack can lock down Kyler Murray and Malik Jefferson, I'll cream myself.

This will be the first year that most of your highly rated recruits are on defense.
