I can only speak for Auburn but we've paid our last two coaches less than aTm has paid Sumlin and we have 1 possibly 2 BCSNC and 2 SECC as result. Why exactly would we be mad about aTm paying more and getting much, much less?

That's great and all, but Auburn is not trying to recover from 100+ years of shitty conference affiliation and bullshite recruiting shenanigans by neighboring programs.

Bret Bielema won 3 straight Big 10 titles and had a good program in Wisconsin, and took over a ravaged and depleted Arkansas team

Sumlin won 0 CUSA titles and only had a single bowl win at Houston(over Air Force in the 2008 Armed Forces Bowl), with a loss to Air Force in the 2009 Armed Forces Bowl and didn't even go to a bowl at all in 2010.

Inherits one of the best CFB players ever who won a Heisman who can't even get better than 3rd in the division.

Over rated and overpaid based on achievements.

This contract was not career achievement based.

Your points are invalid

Highest Paid Coaches For 2013 (Adding Sumlin in for reference purposes)

1) Nick Saban $5,545,852
2) Mack Brown $5,453,750
3) Bret Bielema $5,158,863
4) Kevin Sumlin $5,000,000
5) Butch Jones $4,860,000
6) Bob Stoops $4,773,167
7) Urban Meyer $4,608,000
8) Les Miles $4,459,363
9) Brady Hoke $4,154,000
10) Kirk Ferentz $3,985,000

Saban will debatably be worth it even if his salary increases dramatically in the next week. Meyer and Miles are probably earning their salaries.

Ferentz, Hoke, Brown, Bielema, and maybe Jones have been stealing money this year.

That's great for Arkansas. Count me among those who hopes BB works out for them.

Texas A&M made the decision that was best for our program.

Apples & oranges.

We're thrilled w our coach; so the mediocrity that others are attempting to saddle him with his irrelevant.

But thanks for your unbiased assessment.

Why do you care so much what anonymous posters think of Sumlin's contract?

I'm in the same boat, mainly because I have some friends who're Wisconsin fans who are STILL livid over BB leaving them for Arkansas

It's beautiful.

2. SC didn't offer.
3. Overpaid.

It HAS TO BE fear driving this bullshite. Somebody SKEEER'D!!!

The 3rd point doesn't invalidate the first two. When people were saying USC wanted him, they weren't necessarily saying Sumlin was a great coach, just that USC was interested. He's still a coach with zero conference titles in his career, regardless if USC was ever interested.

Auburn shares a state with Alabama and a border with Georgia

Our situation is 1000 times worse.

We're 90 miles from the cocksucking t-sips.

Don't even try, dude. Not even the same situation......AT ALL!!!!

I can accept all of that.

It does nothing to change the fact that Texas A&M wanted to show a long-term, secure commitment to their guy. Going through "what ifs" every single time a coaching vacancy comes available is a distraction to everyone.

They rewarded him for the job he's done; and they're showing confidence in his future achievements. The fact that other programs would've handled the situation differently is a moot point.

What am I spinning? I don't remember anyone saying He Gone because he's such an amazing coach, just that USC might be interested. Then it was revealed that USC never offered. Now he's getting a big raise without any tangible results to speak of.

I don't see any goalposts moving or any spinning at all.

$12 million isn't something the accountant shrugs off.

Come now, Stone

People were saying he was most definitely gone because he's a rising young coach and a hot commodity.

Then it was revealed that USC never offered.

Because we beat them to the punch.

We've already discussed that his raise was based upon his promise as a coach and the direction he has A&M headed.

The posters on this site were saying He Gone to poke fun at aggy. No one was starting threads about the amazing job Sumlin did this year with a list of coaching vacancies that he could take.
