Except that the majority of the country are retards who hold that point of view that "football is more fun when Texas is good". fricking f*ggots. You see that sentiment in this very thread with fans of their supposed RIVALS saying "just you wait! Charlie Strong is gonna bring Texas back to being Texas because they're Texas!!!!!1".

Love it.

He selfishly almost got Ash killed. He ignores the drug problem running rampant within the team and only kicks players out after 5 failed tests and even then only after they can't contribute to the team.

But but he's a good man with his fricking core values!!!

The HS coaches aren't stupid. They know they are sending players to transition.

You're wrong about this. They're actually extremely tribal, not all that brilliant, and very easy to get butt-hurt about things like Charlie said in that interview.

Good grief, y'all do realize that the quote from Charlie Strong in regards to Texas High Schools running the spread, was in the context of him acknowledging Texas needs to open up the offense this year and in future years. That should be music to Texas HS Football coaches' ears. It's certainly not an insult.

Reading Comprehension - how does it work?

When you look within this state, what is coming to us? And what is coming to us is players that have been in the spread. Let’s not put ourselves at a disadvantage at what they’ve been used to doing.
...

“We did it in the spring game so we better do it next year. We have got to find a way to move the football. Within this state 95% of the teams spread you out and get the ball into the athlete’s hands. We just have to make sure we get the ball in the proper guys’ hands and create some plays.”

So you should be able to link to lots of outrage over the next few days, I suppose. Will check back.

He should focus on the tougher aspects of coaching, like remembering his quarterback's name.

If it was Mack Brown we could.

Charlie's problem is that he already burned the bridges with that terrible coaching clinic and so there are no high school coach supporters left to get outraged. This doesn't burn more bridges, it just keeps new ones from being built.

All that tells us is that he didn't have a CLUE about what the temperature of the water was in Texas before he took this job. Sumlin or Briles or even Kliff knew all that stuff BEFORE they accepted a D1 head coaching job in Texas.

When next season he finally fires Shawn Watson and gets a coach that is actually respected for running a spread as a OC I will believe him. Until then this is just him trying to hold of firing a friend through misdirection.
