Yeah, and those spread offenses (and all the bands prepping for UIL competitions) make Friday Nights a lot more boring in Texas.

You have that backwards. The Friday Night Lights, and the pressure they create for coaches to win, is why Texas is full of spread offenses.

Most of y'all aren't seeing the forest for the trees on this comment by Strong. The issue isn't whether or not that's accurate, it's how AMAZINGLY DUMB it is for him to get on the air and be openly critical of it. His JOB is to recruit Texas HS players. HS coaches are a big part of the recruiting process. If they don't like you (Franchione), you're in for a world of hurt. Stong here is calling them and their players out. He already didn't have a good reputation with them after essentially blowing off the TX HS Coach's Covention when he was first hired and giving them a rambling, incoherent "speech". Then he added fuel to the fire by recruiting a bunch of FL HS players that FSU, Miami and UF didn't want. Now he's saying they and their players suck live on the radio. The guy's a PR nightmare. This is exactly why he was passed over by so many schools who interviewed him. ADs got to hear him answer questions and speak in an interview setting and thought "thanks, but I'll pass."

You nailed it Cooter. Charlie Strong is a PR nightmare, then add in the fact that he shits on the in-state HS coaches/players, etc.... He just added a few nails to his own coffin.

And I'm not in disagreement with him on the facts. He's correct that spread concepts in TX HS FB have gutted the state's defensive talent aside from a few gems LSU steals.

But he doesn't seem to grasp the politics of LIFE.

If my boss buys a new BMW X5 and is really proud of it, I would be retarded to tell him "way to buy a pussy arse crossover, you woman."

But Charlie Strong would!

That's not "badass straight shootin'", it's just dumb.

Charlie Stong needs those TX HS coaches he's insulting for QB, WR, hell, O-line. He needs them for that freak of a DE who comes along every now and then. He can't alienate them without paying a price.

A&M's starting QB is from Arizona. It's two best WRs are from Arizona and Louisiana. It's okay to recruit out of state! But Sumlin doesn't get on the radio and diss TX HS coaches. He kisses their asses at every opportunity because he's not dumb.

I can't imagine the Texas fanbase would be pleased with his comments? You can't bite the hand that feeds you by insulting the HS coaches that will be feeding your program in the future.

Strong is about development of players and getting them into the NFL.

How in the world is this comment remotely problematic in terms of that message?

The HS coaches aren't stupid. They know they are sending players to transition.

Your advice to Strong is that he should suffer fools?

Arkansas has always had a strong presence in Texas, especially the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The Hogs have been stealing recruits for years out of Texas.

Every NCAA coach is trying to develope players. Strong is no different. His comment is problematic because Texas HS coaches want their kids to be successful. Having a college coach shite on their skills and football knowledge can't be anything BUT problematic. How fo you not see this?

I like your analogy, but its not completely fair. Charlie doesn't have autism (at least not a major case) he just expects people to follow and care about success and only success. The world doesn't work that way, sometimes perception is more important than reality. That is Charlie's disconnect, he doesn't understand how some people care more about being Texan than being winners.

It is more like his boss bought the X5, but Charlie hates what a money pit BMW ownership is so he buys a used Lexus instead. But his boss, and all the major stakeholders in the company, get offended at him because "this is a BMW company, we are successful and you need to show that by buying a new BMW." He tries to explain that for what he does a practical old and used Lexus is better than a new BMW, but his boss doesn't hear that. All he hears is that Charlie Strong thinks he is too good for BMWs.

I see him talking to the kids and parents and the intelligent coaches. The slow ones aren't going to get it anyway.

Because Texas high school coaches don't care about the NFL, they care about Texas and themselves looking good. Charlie winning with Florida players is worse than him losing with Texas players in that regard.

You know how I can tell you don't know what you are talking about? You are talking about people whose career ended at high school coach. Some are doing it to help the kids, but many are jocks who weren't competent enough to take real jobs at real companies (outside of something like insurance sales). They take that high school maturity level right into their career as coach.

That is not just my advice, ITS HIS DAMN JOB.

The sooner he realizes it the better off he is.

Except that the majority of the country are retards who hold that point of view that "football is more fun when Texas is good". fricking f*ggots. You see that sentiment in this very thread with fans of their supposed RIVALS saying "just you wait! Charlie Strong is gonna bring Texas back to being Texas because they're Texas!!!!!1".

No he isn't. He's about doing whatever saves his job for another year.
He selfishly almost got Ash killed.
He ignores the drug problem running rampant within the team and only kicks players out after 5 failed tests and even then only after they can't contribute to the team.

Guy is scum
