The best comparison for Charlie strong is when Billy Gillespie went to UK.
Gillespie had/has some legitimate personal and mental issues. Strong is just a prime example of a fish completely out of water at his new school.
A better comparison is Rich Rod at Michigan.

The most physical teams in the SEC are not spread dominate teams. How can you practice being physical when your offense is a bullshitty?

Charlie Strong is going to make a lot of people eat their words. If you can go 7-6 to 11-2 to 12-1 while at Louisville. Some people are idiots

This is an issue actually, the number of Tx players drafted at the lb and dl position is on a steady decline, but now more than ever WR's from Texas are dominating, Rashard Higgins lead the nation in yards last year, and then you have college studs at Baylor, TCU and A&M, then you have Dez, Terrance Williams, Mike Evans, Titans guy, Cole beasley. 7v7 is killing Texas football, its hard to get any d-lineman or linebacker from the state of texas these days because they aren't any.
I've said this before, but if I had the choice between the top 5 HS recruits in Texas and the top 5 in Alabama/Lousiana, I'm going Deep South all the way. They play real football down there.
Trey Flowers and Darius Philon -- both Alabama natives -- were pwning the Longhorns' O-line that was chock full of 5 stars in the Texas Bowl.

I bet. Just like Rich Rod he will have whatever team he coaches after Texas in the top 10.
His problem is he is a really good coach, but being the head coach of Texas is more about being a politician than being a coach.

I agree:
Texas HS does run a LOT of spread. It's definitely speed and quickness vs big power run game
But good coaches figure out a way to develop a scheme to be successful and develop players (i.e. coaching)
Charlie Strong has been a PR nightmare, and this sounds like he's making excuses. And yes, Texas HS coaches were laughing at his speech last year
I want him to keep talking, and keep Texas at a mediocre level

I like Charlie Strong, but he just seems more and more like a square peg trying to be hammered into a round hole at Texas.

I think by telling the people that most of its instate kids run a scheme that is contrary to his is a great political move he's preparing the people Texas that he's not going to take their high school icons especially if it doesn't fit his scheme. That's why Mack Brown is no longer there he kept taking legacy kids and losing with them. Charlie Strong is just saying he's going to recruit not only in Texas but outside of Texas.

With the second tier anyway... LSU will continue to cherry pick the best of the best.

I really don't understand your point. If I understand you correctly he is doing the same thing Nick Saban is doing.

I hope you mean in the trenches because Alabama and Louisiana don't hold Texas jocks in the skill position sides, Texas had 18 pro bowlers last year which is double florida's and 11 of the 32 starting NFL qb's played hs football in TX, at the WR position Texas has produced an all american 4 straight years including 2 of the last 5 heisman winners, Texas also has 4 o-line pro bowlers and according to PFF Texas has 7 of the top linemen in the NFL, don't get ahead of yourself now.

Just the Ags around here.
Yeah, and those spread offenses (and all the bands prepping for UIL competitions) make Friday Nights a lot more boring in Texas.

People are going to DV but fact of the matter is only Florida and California produce better, people talk about capita but Texas has a 3% African American whilst LA is 16% so thats about 5x, once you put that together and see that Texas had 5 times drafted players over Louisiana last year you'll see that statement was sensless, remember when Bama chose Laurence Jones over Adams?
Let me just end this.
Top 5 from tx vs Bama vs La
Tx Myles G - All A, Tony B, Solomon Thomas, Kd Cannon - AA, Jamal Adams - AA.
Bama top 5 - Marlon Humph, Rashaan Evans, Roc Thomas, Tre Williams, Ronnie Clark
La Top 5
L fourn - AA, Cam Rob - AA, S Noil, G Willis, M Dupre/L Jones.
