I actually agree.. Florida gave us an arse whoopin after arse whoopin when spurrier was there... he is one of the best college coaches of the game... wish him a great retirement

Gonna miss HBC!
@APMarkLong
There are some great Spurrier stories to tell, but the best of my time has to be his reaction when a chubby Alligator reporter told HBC ...
... that his mom dated Spurrier in high school. Spurrier: "Your mom, no way!"
Classic HBC there! I can almost hear him saying it.

I've always respected his approach, and the fact that he kept his programs relatively clean.
Hope this isn't medically-related -- but if it isn't, leaving mid-season is a monumental douche move.

If people know anything about spurrier you know he HATES to lose to Tennessee and when the vols beat UGA he knew it was coming. That's why he quit. Well one of the reasons.

Memphis coach Fuente or the OC from TCU. Hell, maybe even try to snag Herman from Houston. They have Nunez and the incoming dual threat that would be perfect for Herman.

Yeah why is this coming out now? I assume he is retiring at the end of the season.
To give the Gamecocks a head start at getting a good coach.....especially with USCw already in the hunt.
Just my opinion...

Grateful for everything he did for us. Program is a lot stronger from him being here.
He helped get us the new Indoor Practice facilities, new weight rooms, new Player Suites, Dodie Academic Enrichment Center, and a mess of NFL level players and great wins.
Forever to thee, Spurrier.

To those saying LSU made him quit like we did Bear Bryant, I hate to ask but what's that about??? Yes I guess I should know.

Gotta get a few rounds of golf in before it gets too cold. No good in retiring in December.

Top 5 SEC coach all time (most wins all time at 2 different programs, top 3 in SEC titles, etc)
As a Florida fan growing up (born early 80s) Steve is everything a coach should be (actually if you think about it it explains a lot about why people my age and younger hated Boom so much) - its unlikely anyone will ever equal his meaning to a single school (Heisman, built school from top 30 program into top 5 to 10 fixture that will outlast him), even after he left he helped us be it in getting rid of Boom (Spurrier ran his arse out of the Swamp twice for not being good enough first as a player then as a coach), or here in overshadowing the Grier suspension (seriously, not even say Fournette being suspended would be on the level of this).

Great coach!
Will miss him in the SEC!
Still have the game day shirt from LSU/Florida '02 I believe.
It was his last game at TS coaching UF.
Mike has his FL visor hanging out of his mouth.
Too bad Florida kicked the shite outta us that game in the rain at home. Was one of the last ones to leave the stadium as the FL fans chanted "isn't it great...blah blah blah"
Ahh good times..

this. Total bitch move and a terrible way to end a legendary coaching career. Cowards way out IMO.
Better than any LSU coach who ever lived with the possible exception of a man who upgraded to Bama.
