Spurrier had three 11-2 seasons, a 9-5 season they won the east, and 7 seasons of crap. Spurrier was desperate to get back in college. But he would have killed it at a program with a pulse. It's unfortunate.

Hats off to the OBC. Hated his arse when he was at UF but came to like him a lot with USCe. Good luck and God bless. Hope he enjoys his retirement

It's a shame he couldn't hold out a little longer and retire after playing Florida one last time on November 14th.

Happy Trails OBC...

I just feel my career as a college head coach, after 15 years, is complete, and if the opportunity and challenge of coaching an NFL team happens, it is something I would like to pursue."

Fat Phil took his lunch money and Spurrier bolted.

He ran up the score so much on SEC teams back in the day... I got over it.

He's a great personality and a wonderful Head Ball Coach.

Will be missed.

I told my friend yesterday that after watching Spurrier's press conference yesterday, that this was his last season. I didn't figure he would retire mid-season though. Are there some health issues involved?

Enjoy retirement HBC!

You are lucky he didn't make your entire program shift their focus to nutria hunting while he was coaching UF.

He will be missed. Maybe he stayed a little too long at South Carolina, but he was always entertaining and funny, even when you found your team on the receiving end of his barbs.

I hope he isn't having any medical issues.

The two coaches I enjoy listening to the most in this conference have to be Les Miles and Steve Spurrier.

Yep Gold, that was the best. I hate to see him go. Best coach Carolina ever had. I hated him at Florida, but he seemed more humble after he left the skins. Still told it like it was and I respect him for that. I hope he is not ill and that he has a great retirement.
Best wishes to HBC

I hate to agree with this, but it is completely true. I love the guy and his post game pressers, but he can't handle any type of criticism. As soon as it started in Florida he left, as soon as it started in Washington, he left, and now its happening at South Carolina. He likes to be revered and can't take the heat.

You mean like the Midget down in Miami did before bolting to Bama?
