Plus, if you've ever heard Dabo, he thinks Clemson is the greatest program in the nation and that they are with the likes of Bama, ND, and Oklahoma as far as great tradition goes.

No doubt. Dabo is a POS

Cock fans when the old ball coach hangs up his visor would y'all go after Mark Dantonio? He seems like he would be the logical choice and would probably do better than Stevie boy long term. Thoughts?

Would absolutely love Dantonio, depending on the timing of the hire. However, it does concern me that D has never spent any time coaching in the southeast. He's a Midwest guy, despite being a USC alum. Don't know if having his diploma from here is enough to bring him "home." But he should definitely be in the conversation.

Dantonio is nearing 58 and has heart issues in the past. He's no spring chicken.

Spurrier is the oldest coach in the league and is a respected coach. He should act this way, and not be so childish about his rival. Beating your rival says a lot more than little silly remarks.
These remarks only show you to be a silly old man.
What might have been cute when he was 30 is not so cute at 69. I really would not want Coach Saban to make a lot of silly little digs at Auburn, because I think it would just belittle himself. Spurrier has done more at SC than any other coach, but they still haven't won anything, so quit trying to act like you did when you were at Florida and winning national championships or when you won the Heisman.

Dabo and the tigers made their bed after Dabo's little rant. He did not just talk trash to the HBC or about our team, but he belittled our university as a whole. Not just its current members, he attacked and insulted anyone who has ever had an allegiances to SCar and took it way farther than pity jabs. He staged an interview with a planned question to "fire up" the Clemson fan base to try and get them off his back for losing again to "the coots" for the 3rd straight time. All this was in response to a quote that did not even come from the HBC, but from Todd Ellis, the radio host. Since then, HBC has put his foot on the gas and is trying to take down Dabo, he does hold a grudge, and he doesn't forget.

quote:

• "There's a lot of rivalries out there. This is more of a domination. And that's a fact. My kids' grandkids won't live long enough to ever see this really become a rivalry."

quote:

They ain't Alabama. They ain't LSU. And they're certainly not Clemson. That's why Carolina's in Chapel Hill and USC's in California and the university in this state always has been, always will be Clemson."

He went on and on. Point being, I don't want HBC talking this way about everyone, but I hope he sticks it to Dabo and the tiger fan base, who fapped for months about his rant, every chance he gets. Dabo talked the talk, lets see if he can walk the walk. I don't think he can as he now has the look of nausea on his face whenever the annual rivalry comes around. You can see it in his eyes and it translates into his players. Dabo is a joke and disrespected a legend in which he has not earned the right to do so. I hope the HBC rubs it in and lets him know it every chance he gets.

This is such an Alabama fan response.

USC had done practically nothing in its history prior to Spurrier and was a perennial doormat before Holtz got there. Clemson was the school in that state for many years, and Spurrier used his notoriety and coaching chops to pull USC up to near elite level, and they're owning Clemson in the process. Clemson owns the lifetime record against them by more than 20 games, and before Spurrier, USC hadn't beaten them in consecutive years since the Nixon administration. There's a reason he's consistently lobbing insults at Clemson and not Georgia, Florida or Vandy.

Plus, stop acting like Dabo has been a gentleman about it. He's bitten on practically all of Spurrier's barbs, which makes the USC trolling even easier.

Spurrier did the same thing when he was at UF and they were competing with FSU. I love it. Keeps it interesting.

Interesting thread.

Some reasonable discussion in here.

Quite a little bit of hypocrisy too ... but those stand-out like tits on a boar.

Anyways, FWIW, the infamous Dabo rant that started all of this:

The Dabo Rant set-up by taternet. Remember, Dabo was reacting or as the taters like to call it, "firing back" at something they thought Spurrier said ... come to find out, Spurrier never said it. But anyways, tigernet got together with some of their posters, came up with all of this internet meme stuff, gave Dabo time to practice and the resulting rant became famous .... Dabo keeps losing and now Dabo has apologized for this rant.

MASH HERE

Thats Dildo Sweeney at his best. I can only imagine how bad the AU and LSU people would hate Dildo if he were to be HC at his alma mater.

Did he really practice that? It wouldn't surprise me, because even when I first saw that a year or two ago, I thought it just seemed a little too rehearsed and scripted, especially when he starts throwing out specific years and stats and stuff like that.

That's the point............Spurrier should be setting an example for the younger coaches about how to act, and quit trying to act like a child.
This has nothing to do with being a Bama fan. I assure you that I would hate Coach Saban to act this way.

Setting an example for younger coaches? WTF are you talking about? Spurrier has always been this way, especially when he was younger.

They're historically the little brother program in that state and he's working take over the mantle as THE program in the state. Plus, he's always trolled rival programs, and he wins. Why is this so hard to comprehend?

Lane Kiffin lobbing shots at Alabama, Florida and South Carolina is one thing, because he had this misguided notion that Tennessee was some no-name program with little to no history and he had to gin up controversy because he believed it'd help his program and his/its notoriety. Steve Spurrier taking shots at an in-state rival is nothing like what Kiffin did.
