That's not when impact was made and it's clear from the angle shown in the OP. The recoil from the hit led to the receiver's head whipping into Jones' helmet. On the initial hit though Jones' head is off to the side.

I'm wondering the same thing about you

First off, a still shot from a play like that isnt going to tell you anything, especially from that shitty angle.

Furthermore, it still shows Jones's helmet across the guys body, into his shoulder.

My picture is just before impact, and his helmet is heading right for the neck area

Really? Is that why it looks like he is sitting?

His body is behind his legs, the tops of his legs are almost parallel to the ground. That means it was post contact. You know, because when you're STANDING your body is straight over your legs.

Eheh, wtf was I, thinking?
Looking at the angles, it looked like two fouls could have been called. KCI and targeting. As fast as these guys move, it's a good thing they review the targeting part of these personal fouls. Looks like jones might have got away with both.

nothing to get away with.

Ball hits kid in chest
Jones hits kid in chest
ball comes out
kid struggles to recognize anything and anyone around him.

While I hate the targeting rule and think it's a pussy arse call, if they are going to call it they definitely should have called it there. In two weeks if Christian Jones gets knocked the frick out like that and there's no flag you will be raising hell, as you should be.

You've obviously never read Rule 6-4-1...

KCI does not require a signal of any kind. In addition, there can be KCI without contact if the kicking team player is within the width of the receiver’s shoulders (to either side) or within one yard in front of the receiver.

When in question, it is a foul

During a free kick a player of the receiving team in position to receive the ball has the same kick-catch and fair-catch protection whether the ball is kicked directly off the tee or is immediately driven to the ground, strikes the ground once and goes into the air in the manner of the ball kicked directly off the tee.

I read it. Explain to me how you have KCI, on a kickoff, when there is no fair catch, because I didn't see it explained.

It was a kick off... just think of it as an onsides kick that landed at the ten yard line.

Its a free ball the same as if it only went 10 yards. I guess some here think you can fair catch an on sides kick and not get hit.

If the ball hits the ground first as this one did fair catch is meaningless.

Why is everyone so obsessed with trying to make things targeting calls on bama. It's creepy. Also, does nobody appreciate a good hit anymore?
