Hoover is a great site. Memphis' auto zone park may be another option. Can't go wrong with either

So what would happen if the Grizzlies were to go deep into the NBA playoffs and it occurred the same week as the baseball tourney? The Commish mentioned that during his in-game interview yesterday.

It was until Slive destroyed the SEC by adding the Mizzcucks and Faggies. Worst commissioner in our history.

Same thing that happens in OKC--NBA teams there stay at the Skirvin, and I'm sure the Skirvin has a bloc of rooms set aside for the visiting NBA team, but other than that, its a problem for the NBA media--they might have to stay outside of downtown if the SEC tournament fans beat them to the punch booking hotel rooms. The media contingent is all that travels for the NBA playoffs--the fans are local, and don't stay at hotels.

Parking? Auto Zone and Fed Ex Forum are only a couple of blocks from one another and would compete for parking. How close are the two venues in OKC?

Nashville will be building a retractable roof stadium by 2030 and will be hosting the SEC football championship.

It's between Hoover and Memphis. We'll find out this week during the Spring Meetings.

I am sure Birmingham/Hoover is a nice place but not much there. Difficult to fly into.

What exactly do you want that Birmingham doesn't offer? There are nice hotels within 3 miles of the park. There is any number of outdoor recreation activities. If you will quit being so cheap you can rent a car, or take a cab and find great nightlife and awesome restaurants within a 20 minute drive of the stadium. The stadium seats more than most minor league parks. Oh and there is a freaking awesome new minor league stadium in downtown Birmingham. You could take in that atmosphere if the team is in town.

Sorry you can't park your car and walk around drunk for the week with everything within 20 feet for your convience, but saying there isn't much in Hoover/ Birmingham is just ignorant.

when Omaha almost lost the world series a number of years back they really got things together and greatly improved the tournament (even tho I don't like the new park). it's looking like Hoover is also busting their hump to keep the SEC tourney.

I think they deserve to keep it. their central location is key to attendance, imo

If we are hell bent on rotating this event, then we should rotate every event: basketball tourney, football title game, baseball tourney, etc, etc.

I attended LSU games Tues, wed and thur. Seems like the attendance is good. What's the problem?

People like to bitch and we live in an age of instant gratification. If they don't see it, it doesn't exist.

If you have an RV, you can drive that thing anywhere. RV's should not be a factor.

This.

Hoover sucks.

100% yes. The tournament should rotate between Memphis, Bham, Nashville, NOLA. If the SEC wants to keep it in one place then move it to the Barons new stadium in Bham.

Maybe baseball should copy the basketball format, 3 years 1 spot than move for a year

The fans on the rant are a lot different than the ones I just met at the SECT, especially LSU fans. The ones I talked too said they want it to stay in Hoover and love the area. The ones who stayed in an RV said they wouldn't travel to a Nashville or Memphis due to parking.

I'm for it being rotated to get a feel for each city, but I can see everyone's perspective. Nashville and Memphis have a very good entertainment district right outside the stadium. Hotels wouldn't be too much of an issue, but parking would and paying for it would be jacked up too. Hoover doesn't really offer the nightlife these cities have, but I guess the perception of Birmingham is still the same and people don't want to travel there. Which is unfortunate, because Birmingham has made lots of strides recently. Over $1 billion spent in rejuvenating the downtown area. That includes the uptown entertainment district.

Frisco should be in the rotation for hosting it, IMO.

I just think it's not fair to all the other teams that it's in Alabama every year. Most fans from every school far away can't go. It seems that the SEC (of course based in Alabama) always gives the Gumps preference. Spread the wealth. It's a league, not a one man show.
