They gave up being Aggies when they became "State" and they have to live with it.

If AAU member A&M is inferior I would hate to hear what LSU is.

No, most dropped it for branding reasons.

Funny thing is we didn't because we are conservative and stubborn, and for once it worked out for us because we are EASILY the biggest "A&M" left.

I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Sorry, you are wrong.

I am unquestionably right.

I don't understand why you guys are so upset that the rest of us know that there are, in fact, two Auburn mascots.

No, you are just wrong.

"War Eagle" is Auburn's battle cry -- not a mascot or nickname.

We actually have around 7.

You just don't "get us" do you?

And you forgot to add the Plainsmen as your third option.

Never do that.

If so, the Plainsmen here will unleash Tiger, the War Eagle, upon you in correction of your misunderstanding. We will then let out a Tiger, named War Eagle, to terrorize your neighborhood...

...much like the famous bears strike fear into the whole State of Mississippi even until this day. Those things are everywhere.

Over our college's/university's history--in an effort to show the evolution of areas of academic focus and content areas--there have been repeated discussions about dropping the "A&M" moniker.
Each effort was met with resounding negativity.

Per usual, Former Students and students aren't troubled about what uninformed onlookers think; they're committed to keeping the historical significance and tradition of the name.

And my Sister is a part of that very same band. You guys should be insanely proud to have such a great representation of your whole State and University. Those guys bleed Red and Black.

"The Auburn Band had been playing the Auburn Victory March as a fight song for decades. But in 1954, Auburn supporter Roy B. Sewell thought that the old tune was outdated and something new was in order. After several failed attempts from students and fans, Sewell commissioned two New York songwriters named Robert Allen and Al Stillman to write the words and music for a new fight song.

Thus War Eagle was born as the new Auburn fight song."

https://www.auburntigers.com/trads/08_auburn_fight_song.html

Even the fight song DOESN'T mention "tigers"!
