Your bar scene is honestly one of the worst I've experienced at a major university. The bars themselves aren't bad but there's like one strip mall with two or three that's kind of in the middle of nowhere and then the rest are all scattered around. You can't walk between any of the areas and none of them have that much to offer where you can stick to it and barhop. And there are no cabs. Not having a centralized nightlife area really kills it

There's a pretty decent bar scene, but it's impossible to get to, and I'm not talking about Tigerland. That place is a shithole.

Hopefully, some of the planning around campus and the Nicholson corridor will make transportation btw campus and downtown a little better, and have a bonus of offering more places within walking distance to the stadium to eat, drink, shop, etc.

And cabs.......god. It's pretty widely accepted that Yellow Cab is in the Mayor's ear.

Yeah definitely. The bar scene/transportation was really my only complaint with the LSU gameday experience. Fans food and tailgating were awesome despite the shitty weather. If you added in a big bar neighborhood right by campus with 15-20 places it would be perfect.

And the cab situation was out of control. It has improved in CS but still isn't great but I started to appreciate it after trying to get back to my hotel from the bars in BR

Enjoyed all of them except Starkville.

Just curious, why did you not like Starkville?

I love it when people talk bad about Starkville and when asked what they didn't like have no feasible response other than "I just didn't like it" or "it sucked"

What does this even mean? Are you an adult? I'm from New Orleans, as are both of my parents, one of whom went to LSU, the other Tulane. I wasn't a NOLA Gump anything.

Just responding in kind. I don't have any earthly idea why you despise Baton Rouge, LSU and your home state so much, but I'd love to discuss it with you in person.

Baton Rouge in the spring isn't too bad either. Mardi Gras, St Patricks Day, Crawfish Boils, LSU Baseball, etc.

I've been to most and LSU is in the upper echelon imo. Alabama has way too much red brick/white column. They'd put it on anything

People saying there's nothing to do in Oxford outside of the university probably think The Square is apart of the university for some reason.

Some of the nicer areas are in south/east Baton Rouge. I think the plan at one point was to use a trolley line to connect campus to downtown, and that would be awesome........I just doubt that it would ever pay for itself unless they ran the same line all the way down Government Street.

Downtown BR looked like it had a lot of development potential it was just lacking the foot traffic and accessibility like you said

Live after 5 isn't too bad either. I have an internship downtown and have walked over a few times. They usually have a good lineup

You'd be amazed at how far downtown has come in the last 10 to 15 years.

In the 90's it was a ghost town......literally nothing but law offices and state/city government.

I've been here 3 years and downtown has completely transformed in that time period. I can't imagine 10+ years

In 2004 I went to a party at a bar that used to be in the building under the coca-cola sign on 3rd street........there were maybe a quarter of the bars then that there are now.

How the Frick is Gainesville getting rated so highly? I mean I guess depending on where you're from it may seem exotic because it has palm trees. But don't let that fool you. Its a shite hole with Nazi cops and a-hole fans.

Like I said this is based off personal experience.
My whole dad's side went to UF, and I have a ton of freinds there because I'm from Florida. I always have a great time in G-Ville, and if you don't, that's your problem

I really like Athens, Nashville, Oxford, and Auburn (in terms of places to live, and being relatively nice and safe).

Tuscaloosa is fun, but honestly it just seems kinda old.

I thought Fayetteville was kinda pretty around there, but not a fan of the actually town.

Lexington is just a bunch of nothing.

Haven't been to Baton Rouge but i want to.

Never been to Gainesville but I've heard its a great party environment. Not much of a place to live though, fwih.

Starkville sucks. Went there for baseball camp one time, ugh. HOWEVER, that was about 10 years ago so maybe its better now.

I can and have had a good time in Gainesville. In between harrasment and stare downs from cops, and trying to avoid Gator chomping guidos. I can have a good time anywhere. That doesn't make it not a shite hole.
