I can see where your comin from, but I'd still put it in the top 6 for SEC college towns. Thanks for your opinion, you should make your own list.

I can't speak to it personally, but I've had lots of friends go to Gainesville for the LSU/Florida game and said it was just a horrible experience.

The cops there are awful. They watch opposing fans just waiting for them to frick up in some small way. Before anyone asks: No, I have never been arrested or ticketed in Gainesville. To be fair, the actual UF alums are usually cool. But many UF fans are people that moved down from the NE later in life and discovered this new fangled thing called college football and decided to be UF fans and go to the "gatah games". Those people suck.

That LSU greenway thing looks cool. Reminds me of our trails here, except flat (which is great on a bicycle).
This is all dependent on where you went to school, and what you find appealing.
For example, Baton Rouge and Fayetteville are completely different vibes, and people like them for entirely different reasons.
Fayetteville is a mixture of the quaint, but a progressive, growing city. It has a little bit of a place like Oxford, with a little bit of a place like Austin.

What do the other SEC cities currently have in place for greenway space? Knoxville currently has 86 miles of greenway trails.

Back in the day, they were pretty obnoxious visiting here, too.
The Muschamp era has done wonders for calming them down though.

I definitely agree.
Fayetteville/campus has a very urban-like feel to it. Hard to explain to someone who hasn't been there because it's still very quaint.
Yall's new bookstore/ parking garage is badass and fits in perfectly with the upbeat vibe y'all are going for. However, I'd be furious if LSU decided to build that abstract thing on our campus

Can someone explain why Athens is so great?
Architecture? People? Food? Nightlife? Weather?
I've never been. It looks to be about the size of College Station.

Yes.
Perfect size for a college town. Great scenery in the fall when the leaves are changing. Great music scene and many great musicians/bands have come out of Athens. Awesome tailgating.

Ehh not really like Austin IMO, Athens isn't urban and UGA has a way better campus

Bars, tailgating, campus, and women. It's a really great college town all-around. The food is pretty much the same to me anywhere I go outside of Baton Rouge. It's hard to beat the variety of food in South Louisiana.

I've only been to 4 of the SEC towns. I'd rank them:

Nashville
Oxford
Baton Rouge
I wouldn't blame anyone for putting Nashville over Fayetteville, it's a nice city.
I've been to Oxford ~6-7 times and liked it. Wouldn't want to live there--it's a little too small, so Ole Miss dominates the town, and the vibe of Ole Miss just isn't for me. Too Greek. Some people love that, though. The square is solid. All in all, a nice place to visit.
I didn't spend much time in Baton Rouge so I'm not gonna rag on it. The campus is pretty, there's that.

What's wrong with the North Gate area?
I mean, it could probably use some more bars, but as far as visiting fans go, it's got pretty much everything you need.
