So why is a team that can't stop the run in the top 4

Because I think they will improve in 2016 against the run and be just as good if not better against the pass. LSU and Auburn also struggled against straight ahead power run teams like year.

LSU gave up 250 yards/4.6 ypc to Alabama and 299 yards/4.9 ypc to Arkansas.

Auburn gave up 411 yards/8.6 ypc to LSU, 213 yards/4.4 ypc to Arkansas and 286/5.7 ypc to Alabama.

LSU is a bit tough to gauge. I think you're going to see more than 3 guys with their hands in the dirt more often than not. They just don't have the personnel to run a base 3-4 yet.

So you're transitioning to the 3-4 this year?

Could be ugly at first.

I'm curious if LSU has a stuffer in the middle to open holes for their LB's to shoot through. I'm not sure they do. I think Aranda is going to have to play around with things to find the right fit.

A lot of quick twitch guys, but not very many bangers in that LSU front 7.

Technically, yes. Like I said though, I expect more of a multiple front because of s lack of LBs.

If we just had an average defensive line i'd be happy. Our secondary is good but with the defensive line we have they're going to have to cover guys for 10 seconds each play.
im sorry to hear that your defense will not be loaded this year, kentucky fan

Missouri at #2 is intriguing. Their defense has been stellar since joining the league...that being said, first year HC, DC and DL coach...

They do have a lot of depth at the Tackle spot, and definitely have talent. The only question will be if the change in the defensive staff could have a negative impact on their performance.

I recall when UT got who many thought was the best LB coach in the country to come in and head up our defense. That didn't work to well for us...then again, he also tried to switch from the 4-3 to the 3-4 base.

Defensive line talent is definitely the one place the SEC seperates itself.

Ours is going to be filthy once again. It's really amazing how we are able to produce so much depth at this position without loading up on elite recruits.

Missouri's stats last year vs P5 (SEC Rank)
#1 Yards Per Play
#2 Yards Per Rush
#5 Sacks Per Game

They return everyone. Also, keep in mind those guys were on the field a TON. Missouri, Alabama and Florida are the only 3 in the Top 5 in both Yards Per Rush and Sacks Per Game. Florida loses a lot, Alabama is Alabama and Missouri returns everybody.

The same players plus the DC from the year before is still there. We are talking defensive line here, not quarterback or offensive scheme.

Not really expective guys to stop blowing up the line of scrimmage because their DC is now the head coach. They aren't changing schemes.

Auburn with Carl Lawson, Byron Cowart, Marlon Davidson, Paul James III, Jeff Holland, Montravius Adams, Dontavius Russell, Maurice Swain and Devaroe Lawrence in the initial rotation would have to be higher than #6, IMO.

Wrong. If anything, Ole Miss could move up a spot or two.

But ahead of who? Tennessee and LSU maybe? Ok. A&M maybe if Auburn figures out run defense? Maybe, but A&M could make the same argument. I don't think they are better than Alabama. I don't think they are better than Missouri.

We brought in a Saban coach to implement a 3-4 style...and I really hope it turns out better for ya'll because it led to the worst defense we've ever had
