I wonder what the list looks like if you factored in the states population.

It would be

1. Georgia
2. A&M
3. Tennessee
4. LSU
5. Alabama
6. Arkansas

No way in hell Georgia is behind Kentucky, Arkansas and I'll even argue Alabama/LSU in sidewalk rankings. That's just delusional alumni talk.

Either way, Georgia is top three.

It really depends what you mean by "sidewalk".

How is this possible

I figure that number includes people like my husband's sweet grandmother - she went to Montevallo in the 40s and then had four boys and 12 grandchildren who all went to either Bama or AU. She sincerely roots for both schools to do well.

If my son were to get a golf scholly to AU I would - at that point - consider myself a fan or Alabama and a supporter of AU, if that makes sense.

That state of affairs would only last 4-5 years, mind you.

But I could see that parents with kids at both schools would consider themselves "fans" of both schools, especially if those parents weren't grads of either school.

To be honest, it's not as skewed as I would think it would be based on the programs' respective histories. That shows how giant of an egg Bama laid for a good while. There's no question that we lost a chunk of the younger fanbase during the two probation periods. I'm amazed that it's actually as close as it is (65/35 or 70/30... whatever is the truth).

But LSU, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Arkansas have got to have the most

Sir (assume you are a dude) do you understand that I am giving you actual numbers? These are facts. The number differences in sidewalk vs alum are like 5%. The alumni base is SO small and the fanbases are SO large that the difference is inconsequential.

I would think Texas has the highest % of sidewalk fans in that state, and A&M has a small percentage of the states population

Nope. More Texans identify themselves as Aggie fans rather than TAMU fans

Tubberville once made the comment during an interview that things were 70/30 Bama's way "when all things were equal". The all things being equal was referring to Bama currently (at that time) being down due to NCAA sanctions.
