Yep,

Bama may have the majority of the redneck fans in the state but AU fans like to forget that the majority of the Doctors, Lawyers, Politicians and Accountants in the state are Bama fans as well.
As you move up the academic ladder there is much more parity in fandom. Auburn has the vast majority of the Engineers, Vets, Builders, and Scientists.

It is BS.
I bet, percentage wise, Auburn has just as many side walk fans as Bama or other SEC schools. They'll tell you they don't but they do.
Over the years, Auburn has drawn more people from Georgia because it's not the "state school" and because it's located in West Georgia, so, its population of alumni, historically, have not been as large a percentage of Alabama residents. That contributes to the smaller number of fans in Alabama. But I see tons of side walk Awbs and they would've never become Awbs were it not for football and they don't care about the school other than the football aspect.

I've got family in small towns in each region of the state. Almost all of them are probably somewhere between 60-70% Alabama folks, 30-40% Auburn folks. After that roughly the same splits of alums, Jax St/West Alabama/UNA/Troy alums who are fans of one of the other and then finally non-college educated fans.
And almost all of them are solid folks who are more grown up and mature than 95% of this message board.

Its utterly laughable that AU fans pretend that they do not have any sidewalk fans and that all of their fans are distinguished alumni. I like how you're pretending that being a redneck and being a doctor/lawyer/politician/accountant in the state of Alabama are mutually exclusive.
Anyway, to pretend that Alabama doesn't have a commanding lead among the blue collar segment of the state is just stupid. They always have and likely always will. Moreover, until recently, Auburn professionals are more likely to leave the state than Alabama professionals. I do think that is changing somewhat, though.
I agree it is probably 70/30 or so. Considerably more even in metropolitan areas. In smaller cities and rural areas, Alabama is the overwhelming choice.

Hahahaha ain't that the truth. The idea that we automatically group all graduates of Alabama and Auburn in the "non-redneck" category is incredibly stupid.

This makes me think that you have never taken one single class at alabama.
Congratulations on picking a team to cheer for.

It's heavily favored to the Gumps right now for obvious reasons. Whenever they go downhill again is when the Roll Tide stickers will be removed from their 1995 Aerostar vans and trailers.

How can some of you talk about Alabama folks disappearing when we are bad with a straight face?
You were the same ones laughing at how delusional everyone was when we were bad about "getting good again" or "being back". How can people be delusional if they stop cheering for the team? Those two things don't make any sense together.
The majority of redneck bammers were loud and obnoxious in 2006 just like they are now. They were just loud and obnoxious about other, dumber things that allowed everyone to point and laugh at how delusionally homerish they were, which is the literal opposite of "hiding in the closet".

The Auburn posters responses in this thread are hilarious....such raging insecurity and anger....really is pretty sad....

I will largely agree.
Bama fans, especially the trashy ones, are pretty persistent. Good or not, that half-drunk lady in the Bama windbreaker is going to interrupt her smoke break to walk across the street and comment on your Auburn tag regardless.

2011 Telephone survey
The answer in 2011: Of the 577 registered voters in this state who participated in the telephone survey and were representative of the state demographically, 215 (or 37 percent) identified themselves as Alabama fans while 102 (or 18 percent) called themselves Auburn fans.
That's twice as many Roll Tides as War Eagles.
In fact, more people called themselves fans of both schools (115 or 20 percent) or neither school (126 or 22 percent) than singled themselves out as Auburn supporters.
For what it's worth.....

Auburn fans sure do love to talk about fair weather fans. Funny, past few years, they surely have displayed how "all in" they are. Last year for the IB, there were a ton of unsold tickets that Bama fans bought up. You could hear the roar of them after Ardarius Stewart caught the touchdown. There were even complaints from other fans that Auburn season ticket holders sold their tickets to Alabama fans.
Of course, everyone remembers this:

Hahaha exactly. I mean, I don't disagree that we have some real doozies when it comes to the "lower class" fan base that loves the TAHD! But, it's insulting to those folks to act like they sway in the wind. Those people have loved Alabama football since their rednecks daddies told them they had to when they were little in 1975. They aren't rooting for LSU or fvckin Auburn just because Alabama is losing. That's ridiculous.
Hell, we used to laugh about the Arkansas State/Western Carolina type games in the Shula era as the Mullet Nation Games because that's when they all showed up because they could find tickets on the street for $10. They can't find tickets to any of the games for that cheap now. Our success has probably hurt them more than anyone.

But the point is that it was happening in 1997 and 2004 just as much as it is happening now. She just has more supposed "ammo" now.

No, not really tbh. The uptick occurred after the hiring of Saban and increased after the first NC. Alabama's time in the wilderness after Stallings seemed to quiet the hardcore "roll tide motherfricker!" crowd down a fair amount. Just my experience.
Not saying they gave up on the Tide, just not as vocal.

That is probably true. The run up to you at random places just to talk about how awesome Alabama is and how terrible Auburn is is probably higher now. Wouldn't make much sense running up to an Auburn person in 2007 to talk shite.
