Nobody has disputed that the police shouldn't have called Butch Jones. NOBODY.

One phone call could do that what about the other 5?

I hope justice is levied on those who deserve it. Hate to think that people would choose football over something so terrible (if true).
I just want the same level of justice accorded James Franklin regarding his phone calls to players the night of the Vandy rapes.

The first phone call was 1 minute long, likely that AJ didn't answer and Jones left a message. The second call lasted 4 minutes, likely to tell him to not show up to practice.
As for the other 4, when were they made? The article you linked doesn't say.

Individually what Jones did was dumb but as a piece to the puzzle that is this lawsuit it's another arrow pointing to an athletic Dept that valued wins over safety and took multiple steps to suppress any type of objective spotlight. Everyone involved should be fired. Colorado still hasn't recovered from the exact same thing.

Shaft loves knighting for that dogshit coach.
Imagine what he'd do for a coach worth a frick.

You're so perceptive! That's why All-SEC middle linebacker AJ Johnson was suspended immediately upon being charged.

You mean all the Vol posters who told me I was delusional for saying they shouldn't have called Butch before investigating in the three threads, the posters that argued this happens everywhere, were all agreeing with me that the police shouldn't have called him? Being a bit disingenuous aren't you?

Jones was forced to. Otherwise he would've given him the Marlin Lane "disciplinary reasons"

Just because he suspends players doesn't excuse his trying to hide information , lie or intimidate and order hits on players.

Tennessee running back Marlin Lane (15) is pictured before a game Sept. 13, 2014.
The day after Florida Gators freshman starting quarterback Treon Harris was accused of sexual assault, University of Florida officials took swift and transparent action, issuing a public statement, suspending the player indefinitely, calling a meeting with players and condemning sexual assault on campus.
The University of Tennessee, in at least two recent cases — one involving a current football player, another a former basketball player — has chosen to handle such incidents far differently, according to public records and information obtained by The Tennessean.
On April 13, 2013, running back Marlin Lane was suspended from the Vols football team with no specific explanation from university or team individuals. Coach Butch Jones said only he was off the team for "disciplinary reasons."

What neither Jones nor the university disclosed was that Lane's suspension came four days after an 18-year-old high school student accused Lane of sexual assault in his dorm room. The alleged assault happened moments after the woman had consensual sex with his teammate, Gerardo Orta, as Lane watched, according to police documents obtained by The Tennessean.

Actually, it's the most logical explanation. The fantasy that you cooked up in your mind and continue to jerk your dick to, is what's absurd.

I'm interested. Name your terms. Would be better if you were one of the shitty Florida or Bama posters though.

Eight days after police launched their investigation, Jones was asked specifically if he had conversations with the two players about the investigation
“I have not had any dialogue at all,” Jones said. “Again we’re letting the investigation take care of itself. And that’s all I’ll say.”
There won't be any evidence of what was said on those calls.
Jones may not have even mentioned to AJ that the police called him.
The conversation easily could have gone many ways here are two examples.
Option A
"AJ, I have heard some troubling news from some of the other players that you were involved in an incident with a young women last night. I have to tell you I am very disappointed in you and for the time being you are going to be suspended from the team."
Option B
"shite AJ, THE COPPERS JUST CALLED ME. You need to get your butt back to your apartment and make sure to clean up all evidence. They are going to give you 10 hours to get it done so please do so you can play in the Missouri game this week! Don't forget the condom!"
But the fact of the matter is no one but Johnson and Jones know what was said and there is NO evidence that shows he tipped Johnson off at all about the investigation.
It will be there word about what they spoke about.
SO all in all there is no evidence that Butch has lied either by saying he never had any dialogue with Johnson on the investigation.
Sorry SEC Jones is here to stay and will be hoisting the SEC Title trophy in December.

It is quite amazing how far you guys will go to rationalize things. I've not even argued the fact Butch is guilty of anything, but this quote here is just absurd.
No evidence? You have heard of the phrase, circumstantial evidence, correct? The fact that Butch talked to police about the alleged crime before it was investigated, the fact he called the player multiple times minutes later, and the fact Jones called the attorney who is defending the player in this case three times shortly thereafter would certainly indicate that they had discussed the fact the police were opening an investigation. It's an enormous stretch given all of that evidence to believe Jones never mentioned to the player the police were investigating. No sane person, given those facts, would believe the coach didn't mention the police were going to be investigating.
I am not alleging Jones did anything criminal. I am not saying he attempted to, or suggested, that the player cover anything up. Nor am I saying he will be fired or punished. If anything, I think the police department should be the ones under fire. However, this whole story certainly supports the narrative being alleged in the current Title IX lawsuit that there is a unsafe environment around a rape culture on the campus and community.

Good points but I am mearly commenting more on the people acting like Butch Jones is going to get arrested for this.
Worst case scenario the University soon settles the Title 9 CIVIL case just like FSU did for a large sum of money and moves on.
These visions some fans have of a huge NCAA investigation, Butch leaving practice in handcuffs and Neyland Stadium turning into a new garbage dump won't ever happen.

Jokes are in here somewhere...
-Not a bad idea but we all know the EPA would never approve this because the river is so close
-Neyland is already full of trash on Saturdays in the fall
There's probably a few more.
