I think you will see a sixteen team SEC with four divisions. A four team SEC playoff with the winner getting a automatic bid to the playoff.

You'll never see that, unless the playoffs switches to automatic bids.

Auburn used to offer in state to Columbus for sure and Lagrange maybe. That quit a pretty good while ago.
I wish Auburn played UF on a regular basis. It was a good rivalry and it is close to home for me. I would miss the LSU game, and I am not really sure how I feel about the IB going away. I cannot think of another team that would have a rivalry opening for the last game. Also that game gets so much hype, the winner gets a bump in the polls that may get them into the CFP. That would suck to wind up playing some OOC nothing game while everyone else dukes it out.

I don't know about in-state tuition, but when I was at AU in the early 1970s, Muscogee County, GA (Columbus/Fort Benning) had more students at Auburn than most Alabama counties.

I know that Southern Union (not sure about the Opelika campus, but the main campus in Wadley) offers in state tuition to any Georgia counties that border Chambers or Randolph county. I know this includes Carroll County and Troup County in Georgia. And in exchange kids from Randolph and Chambers county in Alabama get in state tuition to LaGrange College and West Georgia and the schools in Columbus.

You state that Arkansas, Ole Miss and Texas A&M would be the next three but by your own ranking system they are all behind Mizzou and SC? I know you try to explain it away, but the facts are the facts.
The biggest difference in the East and the West in recent history is that Alabama has been much better than any other program and UT fell off the map.
These things are cyclical. The East also had a run of domination. If you moved Auburn to the East and one of Bama or LSU took a downturn (which they will eventually) then you would have the East as the overwhelmingly more powerful division.
It's not about balance of power, it's this insane desire by some to be geographically balanced. Which again, it's not that big of a difference.

Good point....Iron Bowl gets huge national attention on what is rivalry weekend....It's pretty crucial to the polling and playoff committee....both teams would be hurting themselves by not playing the big rivalry game late in the season.

16 teams in 4 pods probably, but just the best 2 pod winners will meet for title.
right now you have 12 game schedule plus ccg plus playoff plus ncg ; that's 15... if you go to 8 team playoff that's 16. you aren't going to get 17 games, which is what would happen with an sec semi finals.
IF ... the BIG 12 expands or implodes, you can make an argument for 8 team playoff
BIG 12 EXPANDS -
5 CCG'S
3 AT LARGE
BIG 12 IMPLODES -
4 CCG'S
4 AT LARGE
The final scenario might be more inticing to schools like Texas, ND , & BYU.
Let OU, OSU, KU, TT, TCU, KSU look for new homes if there are any takers.
Schedule 12 games against P5 teams, have their own network; and now there are 4 at large spots to shoot for with out going through a CCG.
- but back to AU to the EAST, I like it if they are willing to for go the IB and TSIO. If not it might just be worth it to move bama & AU for VU & MIZZ and go to 9 games. You got to beat Bama (more than likely to win anyway) does it matter if it is in sep-nov or dec?

It's not a contradiction if you believe SC and Mizzou are that high on the list in large part due to their SEC East affiliation as well as Mizzou's prior conference affiliation. Those rankings actually further his argument.

And add one additional knock down, drag out battle for an SEC playoff hopeful to have to deal with that the other power conference contenders wouldn't have? Even the administration at Auburn isn't that stupid.

They don't. A&M has been in the same conference as Mizzou for that entire timeframe.
