Kansas says hello
Slive added Mizzou to soften us up for heading north. SEC has football teams, what they need is basketball teams for content in the winter and spring. SEC TV needs year round content, not just 3 months in the fall. Kentucky and Kansas in the same conference would bolster basketball revenues and give Mizzou their rival back. There is money to be made in them Jayhawks, and conference realignment is all about the benjamin's.

What they should do is try to get UNC and duke and move mizzou to the west, it would make the sec the best football and baseball confrence and arguably number one basketball confrense, and it would create great rivalries between Kentucky, UNC, and duke in basketball and possibly duke and bandy in football

I missed why the SEC needs to be tougher.

I would love to see OU come to the SEC just to see Texas melt

We don't need OU.
We don't want OU.

OU pros:
- large national fan base
- non-embarrassing academics
- maybe the only legit add that would increase TV football ratings immediately
- big SEC-style stadium
- tradition
Not compelling enough.
It seems to me that if you want to add teams to the SEC, the first question you have to answer is, why?
None of the pros you listed really answer that question.

Cons
Not southeastern
Middle of nowhere - can't get there from here
Would make us look more Sunbelt or Conf USA geographically
Will the new SEC west be the old Big XII?
Pros
Great program with history and tradition
Always competitive
A top HC and staff
Awesome fans, travel well
Bottom line - Against

Won't work - was never part of the Confederacy.

I would take them just to watch Texas melt

I want UVA and UNC.
Great road trips. Know a good bit about both places. Let UNC play Duke four times a year if it wants.
I know Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee recruit North Carolina heavily, but so what.

Did they help out at the Alamo?
Posted on 12/21/13 at 9:14 am to RocketBallz
Texas AMC would not allow it, so it won't ever happen. End of discussion.

I would be okay with it. What I don't want is UT coming to the SEC. Basically same situation Florida has with respect to FSU.
Not going to deny it.... Nice for A&M to have the recruiting advantage of the SEC over UT/Big 12.

the tsips will NEVER join the SEC, they would have to figure out how to divorce Baylor, Tech, and TCU first. Second, they'd have to get the votes, and that isn't happening.
OU isn't happening either, for similar reasons. frick 'em, we left them for a reason.

I agree with you 100%. UT would be scared shitless to let OU go anywhere without them. They have proven this already.
I was simply responding to the OP. That's why I said it was my own opinion about OU joining the SEC.
Never going to happen and that's for sure.

Kansas is a poor option because they are tied to KState which is a non starter. They also are a bad option because their biggest market they "bring" is Kansas City which Mizzou already brings. They are also horrific in football and always will be because they simply don't care about it.
Add UNC and you add a comparable basketball school to KU that is better in every other way. If you can somehow get UVA you can also get UNC to leave Duke. In spite of what many may perceive UVA is the big prize and if the SEC can get UVA then UNC would leave Duke. Everyone forgets that realignment is about more than just TV markets and football, UVA is EASILY a Top 5 Public school in every way with a well rounded AD and if they simply chose to invest in football they would be a power very quickly as they have immense resources.
OU just isn't happening for reasons already given.

ESPN will probably sell the sec on the idea of UCONN and delaware for the market value.
