Like I said on the Ole Miss board, this is what happens when radicals obtain positions of power. This whole ordeal isn't about anything other than control. They have the nerve to sit there and pretend that they speak for the majority when the exact opposite is the case. Just wait for the protest ... the media will be quick to say its the 1960's all over again.

Fun fact, LSU was at one point nicknamed Ole Lou. Thank God our administrators didn't embrace it as Ole Miss has

How is "Ole Miss" (in)appropriate in one context, but not in another?

If they change Ole Miss or Rebels I'm out.
I'm sick of our school's administration acting AGAINST the desires of so many Ole Miss' alumni and current students. A handful of people acting against the interests of Rebel nation should not be bigger than Ole Miss. I'm sick of the way our administration lies to Rebel nation while actively scheming to change what makes Ole Miss unique.

It's not about how some liberal history professor from NYC sees our school, it's about how the people who love Ole Miss see the school. Rebel nation has seen Ole Miss actively stripped of everything that makes the school unique. Stop trying to appease some rando liberal outsiders with no ties to the school and stand behind rebel nation, Dan Jones.

Dan Jones should be acting on behalf of former and current students everywhere. When it becomes apparent that he is actively working against the desires of Rebel nation it's time to show him the door.

what if they did. What if they took up arms against the Union? Good for them. Not my problem.

I can't think of any other time in history where the losing team was honored and had streets named after them...

University of Mississippi is the fricking school's name. No one who doesn't already call us Mississippi will change shite. Ole Miss isn't going anywhere. The sky is still up there.

Same here. If they're hinting at this now then there's no doubt that Ole Miss will be gone within the next 10-15 years

This is an actual issue.

No Ole Miss fan on this board would truthfully say that less than 50%, no, 90% of the Rebel Family does not use the term "Ole Miss."

Exactly. "Ole Miss" has never been printed on anyone's diploma.

Yeah.. why are you asking me that question when I clearly followed that by saying:

"Would you change your last name?"

Now, if you did not understand that, then allow me to word it differently.

Your ancestors owned slaves. Due to you having the same last name, do you feel you should change that name?

You seem to be the only Ole Miss fan that wants to get rid of your history and heritage.

It really is pathetic. The thing that sucks is our administration is trying to please those people, when all those people want is to talk and get attention. The people who want Ole Miss taken away are pathetic. It doesn't hurt them. Not once have they ever heard Ole Miss and felt disrespected. It started with Col Reb. We gave them what they wanted. Those type of people will NEVER be satisfied. They will keep finding things and we already gave in to them once, so now we will slowly be forced to give into them again. The only thing, in the past decade, that I can understand being upset about is chanting "The South Will Rise Again." I just find it all exhausting. Racism is kept alive by the people who are "offended and hurt by ongoing traditions." Traditions that they were not a part of. We don't cry about exclusive University clubs for African-Americans only. Imagine if one of our schools had a White Only club/event. Lol @ even imagining it.

"Those people" - very Ole Miss.

Just because someone says that is where "Ole Miss" came from, doesn't make it true.

How about something to verify that?
