What makes Florida fans so certain that Foley will get it right this time?

That's a separate question. Our fans are very iffy on Foley's record with football coaches. Some want it to be a decision by committee. Others still trust him completely. Muschamp didn't seem like a bad hire when he was the HCIW at Texas. But it really takes effort to push out that sub 100 offense on the field that past few years.

Our expectations are a lot lower than post-Meyer. The new coach will get the benefit of the doubt if the team looks competent.

Absolutely... People forget that Muschamp was named the HC in waiting under Brown at TX... And outside the SEC blue bloods, Texas is the top job in the nation.

You know, there's a guy out there who has won a BCS national championship. He's had incredibly successful offenses and hard-nosed defenses. He's also proven to be a successful nationwide recruiter. And you could get him for no more than $4M a year, no doubt. And he knows the SEC east. I think Foley should give him a call.

Since bama has dictated that LSU has to keep playing the gators every yr,I'd just as soon they remain University of Tenn Lite for a few more yrs. So I want them to hire some young, unproven but on paper brilliant offensive genius from the ranks of the MAC Conference. With a hot young wife to keep the gator natives content while he builds up the program from the trash heap Boom has turned it in to. But, a question for gator fans: is there a legit SEC quality QB in the wings or committed for this coming yr?

First off, it's decent.

Second, Florida is one of the best programs in America. The right coach will put them back on top.

State fans are going full retard about the UF job opening.

Florida fans, I have not read this thread so I don't know if his name has been mentioned...

Mark Stoops.

I think he would definitely bounce from Kentucky for Florida. He has been a good DC, is a good recruiter, is young and energetic, and has two years of SEC HC experience under his belt. He is improving Kentucky, taking a sapped program from 2-10 his first year to probably 6-6 this year. He has spent time in Florida.

If I were Foley I would ask to speak to him...and if I were a Gator fan I would be happy with him as my new HC.

Interesting opinion coming from a State fan considering the series of events post Jackie and that teams history in general.

Yeah, people keep saying shite like this...so explain why they hired the dipshit that's there now. People have been saying the same thing since before Muschamp was hired.

Top 3 job? I'd be willing to be that neither Saban, Malzahn, nor Miles would take it. That's 3 just in the SEC.

Bama is a pretty damn good job, don't ya think? But, they still hired DuBose, Mike Price, and Shula. Dumbass hires happen everywhere even at Alabama.

Of course Saban, Malzahn, and Miles wouldn't leave top shelf jobs for another place, even if it's a Top 3 job. That's just a dumb argument.

If you can't figure out why Florida is a Top 3 job then I just don't know what to say.

This is a myth. Or it depends on your definition of "great". According to this, Muschamp is tied for 30th nationally and is behind both Freeze and Mullen.
That's because he sucks. If he didn't, some citrus a-hole would pony up the cash.

#s 3, 4, & 7 on that list .

And Steve Addazio is the ONLY way to go, here.

I think I'd go after Gary Patterson. Proven winner wherever he goes.

It would be a whole lot of fun, but unless he is truly unhappy in the NFL we won't get to see it unfortunately.

Art Briles with the right defensive coordinator would be pretty damn scary. Just need a QB to execute.

Blake Anderson may be a gamble, but he would be cheap.

But I do think Mullen gets the call and UF opens the checkbook, I just don't think he leaves MSU.

I'd love Chip, but he'll be in Philly for a while. I don't see Jim Harbaugh going back to college, either (although I'd give up my right nut for him to be the Gator coach).

You have to think it's Mullen's job if he wants it, no?

Him aside, you look at current head coaches who might leave their current gig. If it was me looking for a home run, I'd focus on Bryan Kelly @ Notre Dame. It's been well documented he's been frustrated with the academic challenges of getting players in at ND.

I think Dabo Sweeney @ Clemson is also a potential hire who would be pretty comfortable in SEC country.

Colorado State's HC and former Bama OC, Jim McElwain has done a fantastic job. He's an offense guy that knows the territory.
