- Well, we believe that everyone should get to play at least one quarter.
- At the end of the day, it is all about the kids.
- Mom and Dad didn't drive 4 or 5 hours to watch their kid stand 10 feet back from the sideline.

All we do is play, play, play no matter what.
Participation on the field we can never get enough,
and when we ask who wants to go in the game...
Everybody's hands go UP!

They beat Arkansas.

Yep, Louisville got whacked by the SEC

Georgia Tech was the 8th best team in the ACC and beat Georgia (8th) and Kentucky (9th).

So, again, pretty even.

Agree to disagree. Clemson, with a once in a lifetime QB (for some programs) is 1&1 vs a Bama team with marginal QB play.

Agree. Watson versus a true freshman who wasn't very good at passing the football was the story of the game and yet Bama was still seconds away from winning.

Ok, my mistake with Ark. Like I said, the SEC WAS DOWN LAST YEAR, yet they more than held their own against the ACC.

When schools fire highly successful coaches after just 1 or 2 so-so seasons, it's hard to get a big-name coach or young up-&-comer to take those jobs. I'm thinking of Ole Miss & David Cutcliffe, Auburn & Tommy Tuberville, Tennessee & Phil Fulmer (though his program had been in decline for a few years before he was let go), Georgia & Mark Richt, LSU & Les Miles. While there is pressure to win at almost every Power 5 school, at most SEC schools the pressure is absolutely off the charts. The league simply has too many rich football-mill schools that are built to compete & win at all costs & where fans & administrators demand nothing less than championships. Problem is that there can only be 1 champion at a time. In this respect, what was once considered to be one of the SEC's greatest assets - large, passionate fan bases & a commitment to do whatever it takes to win championships - has become a serious impediment & liability.

That's why so many top-notch coaches - proven winners - have gone to the ACC in recent years: in this basketball-centric league there's much less pressure; while fans, alumni & administrators are willing to be patient. A few years later, the results are clearly evident: so many ACC programs have improved while several SEC programs have declined.

There are some great programs in this conference who have made some of the most blah hires. Florida can and has wrecked shite with a great coach, they hired Jim McElwain and Will Muschamp. Tennessee has one of the proudest traditions around, they've hired Dooley, Kiffin, and a lesbian. Auburn hired Gene fricking Chizik. LSU was apparently told no by everyone else, that's the only rational reason for settling for Ed Orgeron. I know Bama lucked into Saban and hired some shite-tier coaches before him. But it's crazy how all the power programs have struggled to find good coaches all at the same time. I mean who is the biggest or sexiest hire the SEC has had in the past handful of years? It very well may be Bert, he did win the Big10 three straight years.

It's disgusting and shameful.

Get off the damn mat, SEC!

Won't argue that point overall about Watson, but, the proof will be this year, if Dabo can coach up Watson's replacement, it will mean Dabo is the reason. But, I wonder how much better Bama really is against the top tier of other big time programs outside the SEC nowadays. They went toe to toe with Clemson the last two years and when they played against OSU a few years ago Meyer had very much the upper hand.

I would suggest that when Bama goes up against a team with equal talent but not as effective coaching as Saban, Bama does well. But with all things equal talent and coaching, Bama's advantage evaporates. Stoops beat Alabama with a pedestrian QB. Meyer beat Alabama with a third string QB and Dabo beat Saban with a very good QB under center .

Will be interesting to see how Fisher matches up to Saban and how far Francois has come.

Your point being . . . ? ACC was 10-4 versus the SEC in 2016. The TN-VT game was one of those 4. The CU-AU game was one of those 10. How does one extrapolate from those 2 games that SEC>ACC in 2016?

Nobody is saying that. I repeatedly stated that the SEC was down last year. But it still was on par with the ACC (top to bottom), even on a down year.

Coach Bryant had full power over the program too so it has been done before. Big money men might run the barn football program but that doesn't mean it happens at Bama slick. And why is a barner giving history lessons and confirming unsubstantiated rumors anyway?

And just how the hell does any of that that develop high school players into college and NFL talent?

You act like a well-heeled booster is going to get a mix of 85 teenagers and early 20'ers on one accord to win a national championship.

Just because that's the strategy at one school doesn't mean it's the strategy of another.

Bama lucked out that Saban failed out of the NFL right when they were looking for a coach. Let's see what genius plan they have when lil Nicky retires.

We shall see slick but I will put money on it that we don't promote our defensive line coach.
