Nope. Needless to say, they did not have an easy time on campus once that movie came out.

refusing to admit minorities to the University of Alabama
You know that was only done for show, don't you? They had already been admitted. Wallace was allowed to give a speech, then walked away so they could proceed.
Yes, it's embarrassing, but don't pretend that he had the power to refuse anything. That had already been taken from him by the feds.

You could at least add in Dooley sitting on the stool to the list.

Pretty sure they ended up admitting black students.

you should really read up on that situation a little more before you make those kind of statements. Just reading your post tells me 1) you must be young and 2)you've never really taken the time to know the whole story, way more political than the mainstream media suggest, all the way up to JFK who was trying to win support from both sides of the issue, which is obviously what you are basing your post on. You do realize he ran again several years after that and won thanks to the African American voters.

AS the saying went at the time: "If blacks would vote for George Wallace, everything he ever said about them was true"

I don't get embarrassed by actions by drunk, redneck non-alums. I do get embarrassed by official actions on behalf of our school or alums, which makes one incident alone by far the most embarrassing.
You should, they are the ones who the rest of the world associate with your University. Wallace's actions was representing the mood of the state at that time. He knew his actions were just political grandstanding. Those non-alum (t-bagger was UA alum) did it as a result of a sporting event. If you are embarrassed by a Governors actions, throw Bentley in there.

The show was the embarrassing part because it fulfilled it's purpose and branded a lasting imagine on the minds of people across the country and world about the University and the state.

Sure wasn't. Not sure how the unspoken in public and very much spoken in private idea that we had to keep fraternities white is terrible and bad is some sort of GDI position.
