Texas schools go big, man. Can't hate them for that.

They are so big they cant fill the stadium in a ranked opening game matchup in what could be their best year in almost a century

Look what up? Nebraska hasn't been nationally relevant in nearly 2 decades.

Mike Riley currently makes 2.7M per year. If Nebraska is a top 7 coaching destination he needs to find a new agent.

You could make the same case for others on the list.

Nebraska hasn't been a top job since they fired Solich because 10 win seasons wasn't a "mediocrity Nebraska was going to settle for". Thief ad said that during the presser, LSU has shown that by doing miles dirty this past weekend.

Notre dame is the only other school on that list with a head coach salary that is not among the top 20. And Notre dame played for a national championship this decade.

TCU maybe the best job in Texas, make/keep them relevant and they will build statues for you on campus.

It's true. There's a reason Gary Patterson is still there. You don't think other programs haven't offered?

UCLA, Florida, Alabama, Texas, and Texas A&M have all pulled kids out of Louisiana in the last couple of years that LSU wanted badly. LSU has to fight tooth and nail with out of state competition and loses some of those on a yearly basis

Oh yeah?

Over the last 4 years, LSU has taken 32 of the top 44 Louisiana players... 73%

While Florida has taken 4 of the top 44 Florida players... LSU has taken 3.

It's all subjective. What requirements are needed for a job to be considered highly regarded? Does a school have to meet all the requirements? Do coaches have a different list of requirements than the public? People are going to list Alabama near the top of the list, but no way would I want to follow Saban.

I can admit that these jobs are more highly regarded than LSU:
- Alabama
- Michigan
- Ohio State
- Texas
- USC
- Notre Dame
Replace Notre Dame with Florida and that's your list. There's no way I put the Irish above them.

No one wants to follow Saban, someone will one day, but it's important to note on this topic that even Saban has had to lecture bama and their fans about unrealistic expectations on numerous occasions.

It's certainly not the end all be all, and there are some outliers (Tennessee, Notre Dame), but this list is a good indicator of the top head coaching jobs:

You do realize the state of Florida has about 4 times as much D1 talent right?

Regardless, it's one of the top jobs.

And Saban isn't going anywhere, it's good to be king.

Brian Kelly is making over 4mil a year as an estimate which is in the top 10 easily

Notre Dame is private and doesnt have to report anything so all of the funds coming outside the school from boosters and alumni organizations and people paying house mortgages they probably never even mention

1. When was the last time Les Miles won 10 games in a regular season? I'll wait...

He last won 10 games in 2013 and was cheated out of the feat just last year. He averaged over 10 per year. Regular season or not doesn't mean shite

2. That's not true at all. It's been 5 years since LSU won the SEC championship, and almost 10 since the natty. And when LSU was winning like that no one even considered firing Les....
Les fielded one of the best college teams I've ever watched five years ago and they got fricked. Recently he hasn't gotten over the Saban hump, but who has? Who has won multiple NCs in the timeframe other than Saban?

3. The head coach isn't paid 4 million dollars to "show dignity", they're paid to win. Sorry...

Yet you guys are freaking out over the possibility of someone with character concerns like Briles or Petrino. It improves public perception of your program.

4. See #3, a head coach isn't paid 4 million for NFL players, they're paid to win. Most of those guys would be in the NFL regardless of the coach. And having that many NFL players with so little success is just bad....

They would be in the NFL no matter where they went. They could have gone anywhere too and because of Les they chose LSU. Little success? STFU he won multiple conference titles and a natty

5. Les hadn't beat Nick Saban since 2011...

Who has? It's not like he loses often and Les has beaten him multiple times w/o some fluky freak playmaker like Cam or JFF. His formula for beating them can work.

6. Going 6-8 over the last 3 season in SECw games gets you fired....

With his accomplishments you don't fire him for that. He never got a legit chance to right the ship. You fired him four games in. He couldn't snap his fingers and make Brandon Harris not suck. Again, schools that fire coaches like him almost never come out w/ a better coach than the one they fired. It often takes years before finding a good one again.
