LSU is in the 5-10 range, where exactly doesn't really matter. The question isn't whether LSU can attract a really good coach. The questions are will the admin make a good choice, and then give him everything he needs and stay the hell out of the way. And I think that is the great unknown.

Florida and Oklahoma are probably on the same level as the ones the OP listed. I think LSU is easily a Top 10 job. Also think any of the Top 10 are interchangeable depending on the prospective coach.

Other than maybe

Florida
Meh Oregon
Fl State
Stanford

I'd really put LSU equal to Oregon and Stanford but no, LSU is up there.

Thanks to their academic standards their recruiting is crap now.

According to 24/7, they had the 13th ranked class last year. Yeah, that's crap. They're practically Rutgers at this point.

It sure paints Aggies as a bunch of absolute fools though when you let it happen like that. But that is Aggy

No.

The A&M job is one of the top jobs. If we need to make a change, we will attract the top talent to fill the position.

Anyone with any business experience knows this is the right way to handle it.

Meh things change over time. Minnesota is a great example, they aren't a top 30 job today but they are a top 30 program for another 50 years at least.

I would rather be A&M with a shitty history but a lot of kickass advantages in the now than a Minnesota who has all these titles from a dynasty I never saw.

We live in the now and so do coaches.

USC is great on scenery, but how much winning are they doing as of late? How's their rank in recruiting? USC is tradition, and some kids don't care about that.

Notre Dame is another one based on tradition, but look at the program in recent years.

Everyone said the same thing about Alabama in 2006. The brand and tradition of USC/Notre Dame + an elite coach will equal winning and much more favorable situations than the majority of colleges including LSU

All of these are better jobs than A&M bud

1. Alabama
2. Ohio State
3. Michigan
4. Texas
5. USC
6. Notre Dame
7. LSU
8.Florida
9. Georgia
10. Oklahoma
11. Tennessee
12. Florida State
13. UCLA

And Michigan State/Miami type schools could debate being above A&M... so yeah, A&M is around 16-20

I don't think USC, Michigan, or Notre Dame are better than LSU. Definitely not Oklahoma or A&M.

Arkansas is a better job than LSU, better administration to work for, realistic expectations, ample budget for the staffs. This is why Arkansas has been able to snag the big fish that has turned down "better jobs" continually over the years.

Better job or better program?

You don't seem to understand the difference.

Where else can a coach recruit within driving distance, have unmatched facilities, get 5 mill a year to be okay, and NOT get fired at the beginning of the season for two loses that could have gone either way?

LSU is NOT a top job. A&M is much better.
