Who cares? Jobs at this level really are all the same. All that matters is availability.

LSU is the best job at the moment because it's available.

It takes time to heal the wounds of forcing out a HC who should have been allowed to leave on his own terms, as has been proven by the above examples. It took OU a while after Switzer as well, and Stoops wasn't a sure thing at the time of his hiring.

The fallout from firing a coach only 4 games in will have several years of consequences, in my opinion.

TCU maybe the best job in Texas, make/keep them relevant and they will build statues for you on campus.

I wouldn't consider ND a more highly regarded job than LSU.

Would LSU win a bidding war against either for any coach? Harbaugh and Weis say hell no.

1. 10 wins a year isn't good enough

2. Championships aren't good enough
3. Representing the school with dignity on top of that isn't good enough
4. Recruiting tons of NFL players isn't good enough 5. Beating Nick Saban isn't good enough
6. Doing these things gets you treated like shite and fired midseason

1. When was the last time Les Miles won 10 games in a regular season? I'll wait...

2. That's not true at all. It's been 5 years since LSU won the SEC championship, and almost 10 since the natty. And when LSU was winning like that no one even considered firing Les....

3. The head coach isn't paid 4 million dollars to "show dignity", they're paid to win. Sorry...

4. See #3, a head coach isn't paid 4 million for NFL players, they're paid to win. Most of those guys would be in the NFL regardless of the coach. And having that many NFL players with so little success is just bad....

5. Les hadn't beat Nick Saban since 2011...

6. Going 6-8 over the last 3 season in SECw games gets you fired....

There is a reason why we allowed Nutt to publicly resign when he was fired, the portrayal in the media was he was about the best Arkansas could ever hope for, obviously that wasn't true, but it was a smart move in PR and HCs notice things like that.

In the end it was very cheap to pay him is annuity as an ugly firing would left is with Kiffin or Muschamp as HC.

I agree that it is one of the better jobs, but what is available is still not clear. There is still a lot of football to be played.

ND and Texas are likely to be available at least. It could be many more.

Plus, expectations at LSU are a bit unreasonable.

That's really all we're saying.

Puts LSU in a tough spot.

Yep, look it up.

#5 all-time wins 880. They will rebound, not many have that ability.

You have to look at MORE than who has a title. A&M might not be Bama, but they roll out the red carpet to staff and students for facilities. They pay the premiums to play. They spend lavish on any expansion they want.

Texas schools go big, man. Can't hate them for that.

ND is the only program in the country that will allow you to contribute to a homicide and keep your job.

HCs have been fired for far less at every other program in the country.

Competes with FSU and Miami for every recruit, plus smaller schools (USF/UCF). So no

You dummies love this rhetoric. Let's clear up several things here.

UCLA, Florida, Alabama, Texas, and Texas A&M have all pulled kids out of Louisiana in the last couple of years that LSU wanted badly. LSU has to fight tooth and nail with out of state competition and loses some of those on a yearly basis

Florida does not compete with USF and UCF for recruits. Sharing a state doesn't mean you're competing for the same recruits. That's like saying LSU competes with La Tech and Tulane. Don't be a dumbass

And finally, the complete disregard of quantity when making this argument is absurd. There are 20-25 SEC level athletes in Louisiana every year of we're being generous, Florida produces 100. There are plenty to go around for the 3 schools in Florida and every other school in the league.

Again, LSU is 6-8 in its last 14 SECw games over the last 3 seasons. I don't think wanting better than that is unreasonable.

I'm sure A&M fans are okay with that, but not LSU.

Not everyone sees your selective sample to justify your beliefs.

Bottom line winning over 70% of your games for a decade straight while averaging 10 win seasons was not good enough for LSU.

THAT is what makes a good job.

Hey, coach. Come here and get the red carpet treatment, don't have a losing season, and we'll give you anything you want, and the best facilities. Your salary will be top 5 at least.

What coach would not want that job?
