The boosters will be alright.

Modern college athletics can be a harsh business.

I would LOVE to be a fly on Ray Tanner's wall right about now...you know he has to be thinking, "What the frick have I done?!"...along with a shite ton of us who are now thinking, "What the frick did Tanner get us into?!" as well.

(Yeah, yeah, Florida and Auburn...we know..y'all warned us)

There is a right way and a wrong way to do everything. This definitely sounds like the wrong way. Everyone knows that Muschamp is the Head Coach, he shouldn't have to make an example of people and basically, say "I let him go because I can". That's basically what he meant by "no comment". He is making his job 10 times harder than it should be.

I'm starting to believe he didn't learn anything from UF after all.

I take no joy in what I think Muschamp will end up doing to your program. I hope he doesn't but man I don't feel good about him at all.

Muschamps not gonna succeed or fail bc he didn't retain the equipment guy in April.

It shows the guy has zero feel for the situation... but if he wins, this will be forgotten quickly.

Judging by the staff he hired, especially on offense... I'd agree.

Maybe by fans who were not familiar with Matlock. Those who were?? Well, it's gonna take more than a few wins to smooth this over.

The only thing I can think is he just looked down at the position Matlock had and assumed it wouldn't be a big deal. That's why he didn't feel it necessary to give a reason for his firing. His narcissism is showing and people are already hating it and he hasn't even made it to his first summer practice.

I agree with some of this, but he needs to have the fan base on his side. It's going to be difficult to build something, if you've pissed everyone off before the first game is even played.
This is going to be a rough year anyways, he shouldn't alienate the fan base.

So if y'all win 10 games, there's still going to be a subset of fans upset about this?

This isn't a shot against Carolina, but there is no way he wins 10 games this year. If he does, then he'll be the national coach of the year.

I get the concept of wanting to bring in new blood and the idea of "changing the culture"... or whatever cliche you wanna attach to it.

I try to keep an open mind when stuff like this happens (it's not like I had any clue who usc's equipment manager was before today)... but maybe muschamp still doesn't get it and never will... Maybe he's not HC material.

This is something that's supposed to be said after a coach has coached a game. Bloodchamp is setting records.

If he wanted to make the change, he should have released a statement explaining things and thanking the man for his service to the university. I think people would have been satisfied with that.

Again, the answer that was given to another question can be used as an answer to your question.

Maybe you should ask questions that haven't already been answered.

SC played this one smart. Muschamp is a hired gun. He'll spend 3 or 4 seasons loading the roster with talent (he's a good recruiter) then they'll replace him with a proven coach that will win with that talented roster.

That may actually play-out to be prophetic.

Do not get me wrong, I'm pulling for that mother fricker Muschamp ... but he'd better win. He's not the only mother fricker that can throw temper tantrums .... he's just ignited a few thousand more of us who can throw every bit the psychotic unhinged temper tantrum that he can throw .... and we're all as potty mouthed as that mother fricker ever thought about being.

I hope he wins ... because otherwise this one will not be forgotten ... he'd better make damn sure that man Matlock is looked after at taken care of and treated with respect along with all of his people that were let go on that staff ... one in particular goes back with this university for almost three decades.

But you may be right ... no one is questioning his right to bring in his own staff, all of us are only questioning his lack of fricking decency.

Win, and it'll all be forgiven because that's how it is.

Perhaps Muschamp is just a hatchet man.
