But their border state competition is fierce so it balances it out.
Again, I'll contend talent isn't keeping them from winning a NC... some of it is self-inflicted (Willie Martinez).

IMO, there's nothing systemically wrong with UGA - all they can do is keep putting themselves in position to have a shot to win the SEC (which they do). Odds are it'll come together for them and they'll get over the hump.
Great point, it takes a little luck to win a title. Richt usually has them in a position to win one, which almost as good as you can do.

Alabama. College football has been around for what, like 120 something years, and The Crimson Tide have only lived up to their potential 15 some odd times.

Did we really need a two page thread to establish that UGA is underachieving?
Hey guys, what is the wettest substance on Earth? It's gotta be water, right?

Most overachieving obviously State. The fact that they win multiple games each year should make Dan Mullen the National COY. Ever been to Starkville? I rest my case.

I know I'll get drilled for rocking the boat here, but the correct answer is Florida if we're talking all time.
UGA hasn't cashed in on national titles nearly as much as we should, but if your team isn't named Bama or Tennessee you have less SEC titles than UGA.
Florida did not win the SEC until the 90's. Just consider that, for a moment. I know it was a less populous state for many of those years, but by the same token Florida State was nothing until the 80's, same for Miami. They had the sunshine state to themselves and didn't win the conference until the 90s. More shocking than UGA only having 2 National titles IMO.

Georgia is the only answer. But who cares, Mark Richt is such a nice guy!

Cannot argue about UGA under achieving but they are at least an upper tier team in the SEC. Kentucky is a perennial bottom dweller in a state the same size as Louisiana with a hot bed of recruiting just to the North. Not only do they have no in league competition in state they are the freaking only BCS school in state (Louisville and Big East do not count) Kentucky WAY under achieves. Hell they have never been to the SEC Championship game and have won 2 titles all time despite being a charter member of the SEC

I thought about that but the state of Florida did not become what it is till the 70s by late 80s UF was a power.

Very true, but that's why I addressed that in my post. Florida was a smaller state, but Florida State/Miami were nothing (FSU didnt have a team until 1947).
Before Florida's population boom the Gators had the same potential of an LSU, only big dog in a talent rich but not huge state. Yet they didn't win the conference even a single time. I know they whipped my team's arse in the 90's and most of the 2000's, but you've gotta admit it's pretty astounding that they didn't win the SEC once.

Alabama...should've could've won it all in 2010.

LSU bar none. Miles has cost LSU at least 2 Natty's. Unacceptable with that boat load of talent.

Relative to recruiting and overall potential. My vote goes to UGA.
I agree. Tennessee and Auburn haven't been able to consistently do much since Saban took the Alabama job, but both teams have won a BCS National Championship.
Georgia is the only Big 6 member that never fails to lose its way out of a BCS title berth.
