Etling had a bad game on the road. He's gonna light it up at home.

KC ran the same play against Houston last night. By not blocking the DE, you have an extra blocker to clear out the middle.

So when you fake the sweep, and the DE stays with the WR, there is opportunity for the RB to have a large cutback lane

Doesn’t really matter about all that. Etling and co have to do just enough to get us in that 20 point range to win.

Defense will win this game for either side. Stidham isn’t coming and throwing for 300 and 3 touchdowns.

Florida was absolutely the best defense that LSU has played all year.

It was for sure the best called game we've had and the best we've looked as an offensive unit, but UF wasn't in the top 60 of total, passing or rush D going into the game. We haven't played many good defenses, but I'm not even sure that it's the best defense we've played. It's the most athletic defense we played, but they are not the usual Florida defense.

The jet sweeps got 10 yards an attempt from the WRs and worked great. Some of them were set up by runs up the middle with the same formations and it was confusing to UF. Guice isn't 100%, but had some really tough runs in the 2nd half that helped LSU move the chains. LSU has some serious speed with Chark and Dillon out there, but when Etling is as inaccurate as he was, it's hard to complete anything. When he is more accurate (and he is sometimes), LSU is able to do much more on offense.

Does it matter what happened in the state game? What happened in the Clemson game? Mercer game? You sucked. If y’all play like that, it’ll be a repeat of 2015 you fricking cock sucker.

Nope. Our oline is really, really bad and thin. Guide is still hurt or something. We never throw short quick passes. AND we barely beat a really bad Florida team.

It's going to be funny when AU rolls into BR and brings LSU back to earth.

Florida is not a good football team. Saturday will be ugly.

We got beat, plain and simple. By arguably the best team in the nation. On the road. By eight points.

Mercer game?

We outgained them, outplayed them and won. The only reason it wasn't a blowout like it should have been was because our receivers fumbled the ball four times. That's how I know you haven't watched Auburn.

And might I ask, what happened with Troy?

The point is, YES it matters what happened with the state game. You got destroyed by a team we handled easily. Why would that not matter?

Finally, Auburn has vastly improved since the season began. If you watch Auburn you can see that. Qb play has been efficient and explosive, the line is blocking well, receivers are disciplined and the running game is o point. Not to even mention the other side of the ball..

Stidham is playing like the big 12 version of himself. He's getting more comfortable under pressure and the line is starting to really gel. If you give him a few seconds in the pocket its already too long. He is so accurate and efficient. Plus, we have our run game. We'll always be a run first team, even though we've been more balanced this year.

I just don't see LSU scoring points on our defense and I don't see LSU's defense holding our offense. It's really not that complicated. Better team usually wins, and I don't think anyone can possibly say LSU is the better team

You had four freshman starting on that Oline?

No, only one started. After the supposed RG quit pre-season, a FR, Charles, started, then Ingram beat him out. So, Ingram has played in all games and started most.

Both OTs got hurt and came out of the game Saturday, and were both replaced by freshmen, first Charles, then Deculus. Orgeron said today that both OTs are questionable for the Auburn game.

The center, Clapp, got hurt and missed one play, replaced by a RS FR. That was the only time four FR OL were on the field at the same time.

Peeps keeping talking about Guice being 100% but let's not forget Darrell Williams. I have been very impressed with him at RB this year and it's just a matter of time before he breaks off a big run. Really hope it's this wknd

Etling missed throws on Sat that he usually doesn't. If that improves Sat, we got a shot.

First, is Guice back at full health?

No
quote:

Are the guys on the Oline who got hurt back?

I believe KJ Malone is questionable. Our problem has been guys that transferred before the season more so than injuries. I believe Will Clapp is fine as well after going down during the Florida game.
quote:

So I am curious. Do any LSU fans think the offense is getting better via the eyeball test?

I think the young lineman played a lot better last week than they had prior
quote:

Is this an issue of Canada and the new offense or is it personnel?

IMO, it's personnel. We have no depth at OL, which if you watched our game last week, we had at one time 3 true freshmen playing.
quote:

Is Etling the right qb for his system?

I don't think Canada's system requires any specific type of QB. He seems to design his system based on his personnel. Etling has just had happy feet this year and hasn't been very good.
quote:

Do you think this weekend will show an improved LSU offense or will it be more in line with past weeks where LSU scored less than the average of other teams against the same competition?

I hope so, but Auburn's defense is very good, so LSU is going to need to play a perfect game to win and rely on the defense to keep them in the game.

I'll give Etling one thing: he's a tough SOB. Almost never slides.

I'll give him that as well. He definitely plays his arse off and takes a lot of hits.

Also, I had heard Key was playing awful, but in the limited time I got to watch the Fl game, he did not look bad at all.

Key just came in grossly out of shape, but he's been slimming down each week. Think he came into camp at like 270. They said on the broadcast last week that he was down to 255. For reference, he played last year at about 235. I've been pretty upset with how out of shape he was when he returned. I understand he had late surgery, but there's really no excuse for him just getting fat. There's definitely some work ethic concerns with him if I'm in an NFL front office.

etling been missing wide open guys his entire career. all of a sudden he is gonna be accurate against the best secondary he has ever faced with one of the best d-lines in the country in his face.

no he hasn't.

He played against the #3 pass defense last year in Florida and the #15 pass defense in Alabama. He was not good against Alabama last year but did go 14/24 for 204 yards and no picks against Florida.

Auburn is currently ranked #20 nationally in pass defense this year.

Auburn was ranked 5th nationally in passing defense until this week. OM throws the ball a lot more than most teams and skewed the numbers a bit. They also played against the second team defense for most of the second half.
