Yeah....I wouldn't spend money to drive to Jackson/Pearl for the SECT.

I would probably go to a couple of games if State was playing and spend a few bucks on tickets because I live in Madison and then come home as opposed to 750-1,000 at Hoover.

He's never explained why, but LSU's CPM is quoted as saying every time this comes up at the SEC Spring meetings that the league's coaches love it where it is.

I can understand that. Familiarity. Routine. No surprising hassles.

From a fan's perspective, though, it would probably be nice to see a tournament around the Mobile-Pensacola Gulf Coast area, and also around the cooler TN-AL-GA area.

I'm not too keen on moving it to somewhere like N.O. or Memphis or SC though. That's just venturing too far into a geographical corner of the conference for no good reason I think.

Parking and money was the reason Memphis lost the bid last time.

Actually there were probably a lot more underhand dealings and politics involved. Memphis has parking lots out the wazoo downtown.

Jacksonville, beach? Low expectations for sure. That's no beach.

Not RV parking. Which was a factor in the bid, trust me.

Open daytime - when 100% of the games are played - weekdays? Sessions are 9 AM and 3 PM. That's stupid

I can understand that for NOLA and SC, but Memphis isn't far from Birmingham as is, and is still pretty centrally located to everyone. Plus would be fairly easy to get to. A pretty decent size airport, and on 2 far-reaching interstates. Not sure on I-69 or whatever it is

They don't get it. It's a huge factor and might have been the tilt for getting back at Hoover. I hope Hoover Met can keep the park up to SEC standards with the Barons going downtown in the hood but if not, I will watch it on tv.

I-69/240N is pretty close to the stadium. Like maybe a mile away from the stadium. I-40 is about the same.

No thank you. Jackson isn't worth anybody's time.

The park in Jax is very nice and there's lots of room for tailgating and RVs.

I would love some sort of rotation but I doubt it ever happens.

I was thinking more about the distance 55 and 40 goes across the country, but yes, that is important too. Even U.S. 78 goes to Birmingham(would assume it meets up with I-20)

You have I-55, I-40, I-22/78, Hwy 61....all of those highways/interstates run through Memphis.

Wait, there is a I-22 now too?(is that basically 78 from Birmingham. Mapquest made it look like 78 was controlled access.
I also don't know what 69 travels either. I remember reading about that a little and I think taking that from 55 to Tunica when I went to the Ole Miss game in '11

There isn't much to I-69. It connects with 240N in Memphis. And there is a outer loop that connects to somewhere around Southaven from Tunica. I-22 is 78. It is being turned into an actual interstate now. Which is great. It use to be 55mph zone from Alabama line to Birmingham. I hated that. Now it has changed to 70mph and it is considered I-22 on my GPS.

That's great news. Now if only they can turn 90 into I-49. Damn you Westwego
But that is an argument for another board.

There were rumors that it could be extended from Birmingham to Macon, GA. That would be freakin amazing!!!
