Damn you man. Damn you
I need to make it back. I miss Memphis. I haven't even been able to connect through Memphis after the Northwest-Delta merger just so I could eat at Interstate in the airport.

Yeah I'm headed back this June for the first time since 2010. Looking forward to it. I've missed it too much. Especially the food.

Yea, it's been 13 years this month for me. I'm a Hornets/Pelicans fan, but if the Grizz make the finals I may head up for a game. I was gonna go a couple years ago, but didn't due to the river flooding. Being 2 blocks from the river I didn't want to leave my dog with my roommate at the time who didn't have a car. Didn't expect problems here, but not worth the risk IMO.

I see more LSU than Arkansas most of the time. In the suburbs there were never many Arkansas fans. In downtown and midtown there were, but when I think and talk about Memphis I include all Shelby County.

Outside of Germantown and Collierville, how much of Shelby County isn't City of Memphis now. Even my first school is a city school now, and has been for a while(Ross Elementary, in Hickory Hill)

Cordova isn't yet, but Wolfchase is quickly becoming the new Hickory Ridge Mall. Hickory Ridge is already the new Mall of Memphis

Yeah I was in Memphis all the time when I was in school at Ole Miss. I miss those weekend and week day trips.
I'm in the process of looking into jobs at the hospitals around there. Wouldn't mind moving back that way.

Trustmark Park seats 8,480.

The Hoover location proved itself as an ideal central location when championship games involving Ole Miss one year and Mississippi State another year against non Alabama teams both drew 11,000+. Having said that, I'd give up a little attendance for much cooler venues in more urban locations. Memphis is great stadium wise with a great downtown. Zephyr Field offers a lot too. The new Regions Field is a really cool facility and that area of downtown Bham is close to some pretty cool watering holes and restaurants. Good People Brewing and World of Beer are nearby with another brewery within walking distance opening soon along with some of the best restaurants in the city within 5 minutes of the ballpark.

That's just sad, but not surprising. I used to love go to Hickory Ridge as a kid, and Wolfchase a nice brand new mall the last time I was there. I hated a few years back when I would talk to customers of mine, and tell them I used to live in Hickory Hill, Collierville, and Germantown view, and they would say ohh, Hickory Hood.
My Mom fought for years to keep the city from annexing that area. Then we moved to Collierville.
I'm sure Cordova is only a matter of time, I would assume. I would guess anything that isn't already it's own city will eventually become Memphis.
Is Windyke Country Club still county?

Good luck. Memphis is the only city I would want to leave New Orleans for. This is home, but I will always consider myself a Memphian as well. And I lived in Richmond longer than either place.

My parents have been in Collierville since the early 90's. what part did you live in?
Posted on 5/6/13 at 11:10 pm to memphisplaya
Beaver Creek, near the city line(I think it was near Houston Levee) . I was there from I think 89-92(give or take) then we moved to what my teacher, and then I called Germantown View(Winchester and Hacks Cross)
I could walk to cotton fields when I lived there. What part are they?

Just an idea because this is actually a pretty damn good thread with some great ideas.
If two more schools are added what if there was a West and East division tournament at seperate sites, and Top 4 from each advance to the SEC Championship in Hoover?
Allows for the SEC to keep the tourney in Hoover but allow for other great sites like Memphis or Jacksonville to host and spreading the SEC brand.

Well for one the cotton fields are no more. It's a parking lot. Winchester and Hacks cross is now full of chain restaurants. It's considered memphis now.

I don't think that would ever happen, but I like it. Have the West play in Memphis and the East play in Gwinnett County, GA. Both of those are close enough to Hoover or Birmingham where you don't need a travel day.

Oh I know, nothing is the same. The cotton fields I was thinking of are now houses I think, and the Windyke area. Wow! When I moved Hacks Cross was a 2 lane road south of Winchester, though they did have the Krogers and Costco shopping centers there the last time I was there.
I remember moving a week after Nonconnah Parkway opened to Quince. I went back 3-4 months later, it was to at least Hacks Cross, and Hack Cross was a 7 lane road.

Nonconnah aka 385 is now to Piperton and extends all the way to the 240 interchange. It's about to reach even further into Fayette County.

I'd be all about it rotating to Coolray Field.
At least use good pics though.
