He wouldn't be top five at Alabama alone.

If he were a coach at Alabama, his all-time standing would be:

1. Bear Bryant
2. Nick Saban
3. Wallace Wade
4. Frank Thomas
5. Gene Stallings
6. Les Miles

Stallings had a perfect season and didn't have nearly as much talent when he took over in 1990 as Les Miles had when he took over LSU in 2005.

I know this is a troll, BUT honesty Les deserves to be discussed at a top 10-15 all time coach. He has had sustained success that is nearly unseen before.

And before anyone comes in with the "A medicore coach can win at LSU" or the "Anyone can with 10 games with that talent" bullshite.

1. Explain the 90's.
2. Explain why Saban is successful at Bama after 7 years of meh. (Hint: Recruiting success=Overall success is CFB)

1. You had some shitty coaches in the 1990s. DiNardo was your best head man from that era and he was meh.

2. Proven Winner + Top 3 All-Time Program = Success.

He's a top 3 recruiter in the nation. That alone earns him top 10 overall.

Honestly, he needs another title before he'll get the credit he probably deserves.

Don't know too much about him being new to the conference and all, but he seems like a good coach and an interesting guy.

Doesn't he eat grass or something weird like that?

yes, but he's very witty and articulate, so he has that going for him...

1. Exactly my point. Not just anyone can win at LSU, much less 4 seasons is a row of 10+ wins.

2. Proven winner is debatable (see record in NFL). Proven recruiter fits more here. Nick Saban may be the best recruiter ever, especially considering the violations that exist in CFB today.

Your right bro, keep riding the Lane train, his last two "train stops" at UT and USC, he was very successful

Not gonna deny this. Saban drug LSU's program from the ashes. However, Nick didn't have near the success at LSU that Miles has.

ETA: Yes, I'm on first name terms with Nick. We are, roughly, the same height. He is a bit small, though.

Not sure if this is a troll thread or not

It brings a smile to my face that Miles has had as much success as he has over the years, and yet this question still has to be asked
