I think the guy in charge of Auburn's entire fundraising dept is a little more than an "office assistant".

Sorry, I guess I don't keep up with the team leanings of the resident shitposters like I used to. I get it though, if I were an Auburn fan I wouldn't want anyone to know about it either.

What got us on sanctions was bag men, which isn't what I'm talking about. Moron.

Auburn's athletic department is run by its boosters. Alabama's isn't and wasn't. Those are just facts, and most Auburn fans I know complain about it on a regular basis.

I guess Tim Jackson is perfectly fine going from the Steinbrenner label where the players and coaches called him the General Manager to a mere peon as an Office Assistant. He was Cam Newton's handler (walked him to class everyday), roamed the sidelines, was seen at every practice and football meeting, attended all senior staff meetings. Jackson was intimately involved with the inner workings of the team, even gave Chizik input on what he saw on the practice field.

Now he's a pencil pusher?

There isn't a damn thing they can do about it.

Jay Jacobs is not a "bad" AD, the program makes more money than it ever has with the SECNetwork and the various apparel and media deals. AU stays out of the NCAA crosshairs, their players are graduating, Jacobs headed up some major facility improvements and is about to break ground on the JHS renovation that will top out over $150mm.

But Alabama was last hit with probation in 2009.

Your Football program was penalized and put on probation for three years.

Your Basketball program was penalized and put on probation for three years.

It ended in 2012, but that really wasn't that long ago, was it.

Then, why do Alabama fans always seem to feel squeaky clean all of the time?

In 2002 you guys received FIVE YEARS of probation and a TWO YEAR ban from participating in any Bowl Game whatsoever.

You guys brush things under the rug better than any University in America.

In 2009, The NCAA also placed 16 frickING TEAMS from the University of Alabama on three years of probation for misuse.

Sounds like you should be fricking grateful that Jay Jacobs has been able to keep Auburn athletics out of NCAA trouble for a long long time, while also keeping the AU athletic department making money.

I would tell my Bama posters to give thanks every night for JJ.
As long as he is in charge we will have no problem with our little brother.
And they will win 7-8 games a year if they have a bunch of luck.

The NCAA erasing 21 Alabama football victories from 2005-2007 doesn't exactly help any Bama fan's argument right now. This was in recent history.

What Alabama fan anywhere in this thread claimed Alabama was squeaky clean? No one that I'm aware of. You trying to act like Alabama's textbook case was some SMU level scandal by citing the fact that 16 sports got probation doesn't make it so. Literally the ONLY reason the textbook case was even considered a major violation case was because those "infractions" dated back to 2005 which was in the 5 year window from the Means case. Therefore, repeat violator no matter how silly or minor the violations were.

The textbook "scandal" was the equivalent of kids getting an extra toy in their Happy Meal at McDonalds because of a glitch in the computer system running McDonald's promotions. The vast majority of Bama athletes unknowingly got extra unallowed school supplies in most cases worth less than $50. Four or five of the football players resold their used books at discounts to other students which you can do as a regular student but not if you're an NCAA athlete. Nebraska had the exact same textbook "scandal" in their athletic department but received no penalty because they weren't considered repeat violators.

The Means and Langham cases were much more serious violations. Just want to clarify the textbook case wasn't even remotely in the same universe as the Means case and trying to compare the two is laughable.

Jay Jacobs made the NCAA his bitch, unlike our shivering rabbit of an AD.

Yes he did, and he has keep AU athletics clean for a very long time in addition to inking some very lucrative contracts for athletics resulting in more revenue than they have ever had. He was in charge of the new Arena which is super nice. He is about to head up a huge stadium renovation of JHS.

I think JJ deserves a lifetime contract. He's done an outstanding job.

Compared to the lot that came before him, he's done pretty damn good.

I'm just thinking one AD got them on 60 minutes with "down home cuz" then went on to lose his HC/AD job only to later have the field named after him.

One gave them Tot Bowden who won a buncha games and then bolt mid-season.

One AD facilitated JetGate and the ensuing drama.

Is Jacobs worse than those guys?

So ITT actual Auburn fans aren't thrilled with Auburn's AD, and Bama fans are arguing for him to stay.

Right. Got it.
