I love this rule, one of the few things keeping the SEC from being full on NFL Lite.

You realize that Saban is a democrat and a liberal, right?

I think the rule makes sense, but only with a hardship exception. Is the SEC the only conference with this type rule?

Yeah. I'm pretty sure we are.

I don't know if he's liberal, but he's definitely not conservative and I think he usually votes Democratic.

One of the things I like about him.

Well if the SEC allows it so be it. But G-Mac and Cecil Hurt made a VERY good point, does everyone really want Nick Saban being able to go after gradates from within the conference? If so then so be it..

I don't care about his, or anybody elses politics. I HATE it when entertainers think they have to tell everybody their opinions on world issues. I just found it odd for the poster to say that the democrat/liberal way is to complain, cry, moan and groan when Saban is a democrat. I can just about guarantee that had he realized that, he would not have said it.

Our hypocrisy is what makes us such good fans!

Not like we havent heard this a million times from bama fans already. But get over yourselves.

Yes all you are doing is protecting the SEC from unleashing the Saban. BTW, saban wont be able to "go after" anyone, the players have to come to him, only after they pretty leave their current team

I would bet we have thousands of Bama fans out there whose head would explode if they realized Saban was not part of the "God, Guns, Hate ISIS, Obama is a Muslim" way of thinking.

You can't "go after" anybody. That's the thing. Contact cannot be made until the player requests the release. It's amazing to me, that it is mostly Alabama fans that are against it allowing them to go within the SEC, yet it is they who keep saying it will benefit them. Which high profile players do y'all think are knocking down the doors to to leave their programs? very few kids would even meet the requirement.

We all like to think we are above it, but we are all guilty of it. We love to point fingers at each others programs and scream at them about how we don't understand how they can defend such outrageous behaviors....but we do the same thing when it is our program that gets their hands caught in the proverbial cookie jar.

Imagine how different the Rant would be if just half of us were willing to admit our own hypocrisy/shortcomings? Being able to laugh at yourself is the most liberating thing you can do.

I've got no problem with any fans on here. I have nothing but respect for what Saban and Alabama has accomplished. I wish Georgia had had this kind of success.

I think it's a good rule. If not, college football becomes free agency after graduation.

So, what you're saying is...if the rule is changed, more kids will earn their degrees and then transfer to other schools. That sounds like a good problem to have. Another reason to make sure you complete your program and earn your degree.

Who cares if Saban goes after graduates? The great players don't even graduate. How many players that graduate even have a year of eligibility left?
