If you are for that going on nationwide then I guess that's your opinion.
I don't want to turn CFB into a sort of Free Agency.
So agree to disagree.
I wouldn't be so opposed to it if it wasn't for Kirby Smart but would still oppose it

Both sides have handled this ordeal poorly.

if a player graduates from the University they should have absolutely dick to say about where that graduate transfer person goes.

Yes, i've only heard this about 7 thousand times. What are graduation rates at P5 schools? Now, what percentage of those that graduate would want to transfer for one year? Ill hang up and listen.

(Spoiler alert: if the kid as given you 4-5 years of hard work, earned it in the classroom and on the field, he owes your institution nothing)

I think it could be taken advantage of if its allowed. It opens the door for teams to grab a 3rd string qb and promise them some playing time/money to come over and bring their playbook and knowledge of the offense (signals) right before the season starts.

FIFY (no point being pissy in this thread)

Maybe this could be the reason the SEC Presidents & Athletic Director's voted for this rule to be enacted?

Indeed. Hopefully this is a lesson learned from UA's standpoint.

He signed the schlorship and he knows the rules.
Just because he and his mother moans and complains doesn't mean they're going to get their way.
If he wanted to go to Georgia he should've made that decision 4 years ago.

How do you feel about coaches who leave when they want?

M.Smith's "knowledge of the offense signals" has absolutely nothing to do with this. Does the name Kirby Smart ring a bell with you? Saban is all bout giving second chances to a pre season all American starting OL when he was caught with weed & a stolen gun but then, here is a kid who not only did nothing wrong, he is the poster child of a student athlete in that he graduated a year early while playing major college football. Does the name Taylor ring a bell, the former Ga. player who Saban took a second chance on after being kicked off the...UGA team for domestic violence? And then consider Coach Boom: look at his multiple "transfers" around the league. What about all those players he recruited being left behind while he moved on to greener pastures? AU, LSU,FLa. AU, S.Car. He suffered no penalties whatsoever in bouncing all over the league ( granted, he was fired from Fla )

Coaches are paid with a contract clause.
College young men are not paid legally as of yet so the situation completely different.
If you wanna pay college athletes and give them the ability to transfer to other schools that a different situation.

Maybe the SEC Presidents/Athletic Director's will address the rule in the meetings next summer? They are the people that voted for this rule in the first place. If they feel there has been an injustice to Maurice Smith, then they can vote to withdraw the rule altogether.

Issues with both sides handling this.

and we have heard for quite some time, scholarships are a one year thing.

Like I stated before, he played his hand knowing what was going to happen(saban not granting waiver to UGA) and now trying to get it changed. If he really had issues about this, he should have made it public before rather than after. just sour grapes at this point

No it's not, but I think Saban was pretty clear on his position regarding Smith's transfer request. Smith has over 100+ D1 options at his disposal right now. Good luck to the young man, he will be a great pickup for another program.

The rule has merit for undergrads

He has over 100 schools he can go to.
Need to quit crying like a bunch of liberals and move on to somewhere outside the SEC.

So. How many generally graduate? Most big time players are gone after 2 years.

They should be allowed to transfer anywhere once they graduate.

Then all they have to do is amend the rule to differentiate transfers for undergrads/grads if they choose to handle them differently.
