No you guys are right, a bowl that has been around forever and has a prestigious history is way worse than a johnny come lately bowl against an awful big10 school.

The Florida Citrus Bowl (Capital One predecessor) has been tied to the SEC and is a far more historic "SEC" bowl than it is with the Cotton.

The Cotton has not had an SEC school every year. In fact, prior to 1999, when it became an SEC/Big 12 game, the SEC only had a team (who was in the SEC at that time) in the Cotton Bowl 20 times (1937-1998)

Not to mention it is played while two other bowls are being played during the day while the Cotton Bowl is played all by its loan some in prime time...

Another excellent point.

I never thought it would be a addition of the ags that would make me agree so much with arkansas fans, and you of all arkansas fans.

Considering the cotton has been on the cusp of being a BCS bowl for some time

Not true. When the cotton bowl switched from the old location to Jerryworld it started being mentioned as a possible BCS bowl.

Had more to do with facilities and capacity. The old cotton bowl(with all that histry you speak of).. now hosts the cotton bowl classic.

Capital One bowl is too small to host a BCS game. Anyone with any sense at all knows that.

Now you know as well.

We are a newbie because we prefer the bowl that pays more and is higher in the pecking order while being considered the Top Non BCS Bowl to most people in the country?

I've been to 9 Cotton Bowls. It's ok but Jerryworld gets stale for college football and the old Cotton Bowl is a complete dump. Going to Dallas to play a Big 12 team sounds about as exciting as if UGA went to the Chick Fil A to play a rematch with GTech. My Dad was in school the last time we played in Florida however.

Ya, but its a suburb of a real city and Jerry World is the shite.

Orlando sucks donkey dick once you turn 12.

Normally I would agree the Cotton Bowl is preferrable, but this year we need ESPN pimping Johnny to get the trophy and there is a better chance of that if it helps ESPN get more ratings for one of its big bowl games.

Us in the Cotton (owned by Fox) = Teo gets trophy.

You do know this doesn't matter as much in the SEC like it did in the Big12? You don't get to keep all the added payout like you did in the big12?

You do know this right?

Now I know as well? I witnessed first hand how shitty that stadium and their set was in 09. We played on mud and clay. They now have artificial turf, but there is no prestige to gain from the capital one bowl. It's a bowl that I hope the playoffs end someday.

Dude. The Cotton Bowl is the sexier attraction and better bowl at the present time. Get over it.

The whole conference shares the fricking bowl money.

The Universal hotels and theme parks are pretty fun so you may want to think about things other than Disney.

And no, Jerry World is NOT the shite. I HATE going out there and at this point the only way I go is if somebody offers me a ticket and a ride.

I would rather freeze my arse off at the old Cotton Bowl than go out to a gaudy place that gouges the frick out of its patrons.

It will be played while two other big bowl games are going on. Good luck with your ratings and viewers.

its not a 100% even split from everything I have read. We stand to make about 200k more by being in the Cap One.

Actually...you will make more from the Cotton Bowl due to Travel Costs.

Did you also know we split all revenue...You're talking 10-15 dollars at the end of the day

Jerryworld is a terrible environment for a college game. It's a palace but you end up watching the game on the big screen and having echoes everywhere.

At least Cap One is in Orlando which makes for a fun trip from Texas. You have Disney and all the other parks there. Orlando is a great town to visit, though it sucks to live there from the folks I know.

Still, if Cotton is so great than why does Cap One pay more and pick first?

The Capital One Bowl is the one hyped all season by ESPN due to Capital One's sponsorship. It's also one of three bowls televised on one of the big four (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX). The Sun and Cotton are the other two.

Every year we have a New Year's day hang over party, play cards, drink beer, shoot pool, eat black eyed peas, watch bowl games, etc.

Every year we forget about the Cap one bowl, we have watched some shitty bowl games, but not the cap one bowl.

No doubt. A PCU quote is applicable in almost every situation.
