Southeastern Conference
The Southeastern Conference has ten bowl tie-ins.[12]
#1 Bowl Championship Series. The winner of the SEC Championship Game gains an automatic berth to a BCS bowl game, preferentially the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
#2 The Capital One Bowl must select the team with the best overall record among non-BCS playing SEC teams, or a team within one game of the best record.
#3-4 The Cotton Bowl Classic has first pick of remaining teams from the Western Division, and the Outback Bowl typically picks a remaining team from the Eastern Division.

#5 The Chick-fil-A Bowl selects after those two bowls.
#6 The Gator Bowl receives the sixth pick.
#7-8 The Music City Bowl and the Liberty Bowl work with the SEC office to determine the seventh and eighth picks.
#9 The BBVA Compass Bowl receives the ninth choice of SEC teams. In years where the SEC does not have nine bowl eligible teams, the BBVA Compass Bowl will select from the Sun Belt Conference instead.
#10 The Independence Bowl receives the tenth pick.

Who is the newbie to the SEC?

Cotton Bowl>Cap1 Bowl

Cotton Bowl $$ < Capital One Bowl $$$

Besides, Capital One Bowl selects first and usually better bowl picks first. So...

Trust me when I tell you this. The Cotton Bowl would LOVE to have A&M this year. Something going on in the back rooms in the state of Texas.

They's some politicking goin on...

Considering the cotton has been on the cusp of being a BCS bowl for some time, while the capital one hasn't even sniffed that area yet, I'd say you sir are the idiot.

Bama played in The Cap One January 2011...we curb stomped Michigan State 49-7. Cap 1 is a good bowl.

Its a crap bowl. One I hope Bama never has the misfortune of having to play in again.

I could say the same for LSU. It's daytime, and after playing on soft clay in 09 vs Penn State, I want nothing to do with that bowl for a long time.

The Cotton Bowl would be a decent consolation prize should the worst happen.

I think every Ag knows the history and prestige of the Cotton bowl..it's more not wanting to play a big12 team that we've matched up against annualy for the last 20 years; especially just 1 year out.

No you guys are right, a bowl that has been around forever and has a prestigious history is way worse than a johnny come lately bowl against an awful big10 school.

The Cap One Bowl has been around since 1947 making it just 10 years yonger than the Cotton. Both potential opponents in the Cap and Cotton are going to be 8-4 unless there are upsets on Saturday.

this is a pathetic attempt at trolling

Everything about it is mediocre. Crap stadium surrounded by a worse city.

I do think its funny all these Texas folks are claiming something in Florida is better than something in Texas.

Thats fine. I get that. But dont say its because the Cap1 bowl is a better bowl. Thats ridiculous.

Once you go to the Cap1 bowl, you might never want to go back.

Not to mention it is played while two other bowls are being played during the day while the Cotton Bowl is played all by its loan some in prime time...

Don't put me in that group then. If what you are saying about he cap 1 is true then I'm sure we'd rather play the cotton if the opportunity comes up again.

None of us know much about the bowl but we are all about new things these days

The stadium really is a piece of garbage. Orlando is fine, but I'm not going there to watch a game again. That group that hosts it have a lot to learn about hosting a bowl game.
