I don't give a rip who we play or where, honestly. It doesn't matter if it's Texas in Dallas or Michigan in Orlando. Either team is going to get run out of the place.

Besides, Texas isn't going to make the Cotton anyway. Not after they lose to KState and TCU beats OU.

The Rose kicked off at 5Et well after all the other games kicked at 1 ET or in TCs case, 12 Et.

The Ticket City was a blowout.

The Gator was between two 6-6 teams.

Georgia/MSU was the only good early game on Jan 1 that year.

Again, I seriously doubt you completely skipped on the Cap One when the night before the game at 11pm you were in a thread that asked if Arky or USCe was going to embarrass themselves more in their bowl game. Never mind that it was a close game between two top 25 teams.

We had the chairman of the Cotton Bowl admit on TexAgs radio today there are Big 12 teams that don't want to play us.

First of all, this should be emphasized as this was the point of the thread.

Second, for most Aggies, why would we want to play in a stadium we have been to 4 times in the last 4 years, in a city that is not a new destination, to play a team we have played every year for the last 16 years? Who cares what you guys think is the better bowl. Its new for us and despite what you guys think, its pretty much considered one of the biggest non-BCS bowls, if not the biggest.

Third, Cap-1 is on ESPN, Cotton is on Fox. Coming from experience, you don't get talked about much leading up to the game on ESPN when you are on Fox.

So no one is going to disagree that Jerry World is probably a nicer facility, it doesn't mean its a better destination for us.

This is a chance for A&M to play in a traditional SEC bowl outside of Texas, which I think is a good move.

Agree. Been to the Cotton Bowl quite a few times. Do know the Capital One Bowl is old. Can't be a bigger dump than the Independence Bowl.

No telling what is going on in the background. Most A&M fans would love to play texass and their crappy defense. Sumlin not worried about texass at all. A&M admin... maybe they don't want the game.

Most texass fans don't want anything to do with A&M this year. Guarantee you that Dodds doesn't.

Who is more likely to be dodging who?

Besides, the Capital One Bowl is picking us. Since LSU, Bama, UGA, etc.. have all played in it. Don't see a downside to us playing in it vs Michigan. We win and finish 11 - 2 that will be a great year.

A&M vs texas would be a ratings bonanza, especially if JFF wins the heisman.

I'd rather have the Cotton and pummel the horns. It's a classic rivalry game and the beat down would be epic. I'd be fine with pummeling OU too if Kent State busts the BCS.

Raining down the SEC chant up 4 TDs would be poetic.

Its a crap bowl. One I hope Bama never has the misfortune of having to play in again.
The opponent notwithstanding, I am sure the players would prefer to play in Orlando (warm and fun) versus Dallas (cold and dull)...

Not that I care what the players want but I would think most of them would rather play closer to home and would probably relish the chance to beat up on one of their old Big 12 foes.

But were I an A&M fan, I'd want my school to take the maximum payout.

I know a ton of the A&M players have said they'd love to play Texas.

Hell, I'm sure there are plenty of players on Texas that would love to play the game too.

Unfortunately, DeLoss Dodds ego got bruised and he thinks refusing to play us is some sort of punishment.

The SEC should tell Texas to kiss arse.

Let them play the Big East team or someone like that. Nobody cares about Texas anymore but them. They've got their little brothers to beat up on and are having a tuff time selling their network.

Fukum.

The whiners have more to gain by beating tamu in the cotton bowl than tamu has to beat the whiners

Doesn't come close to mattering. That's $$$ talking.

Cotton Bowl is 2nd behind Sugar for SEC historic importance.

yep its stupid that the cap1 is ahead in the picks because the cotton is a much better bowl. It is played in a nicer stadium in a city that is way better than the cap1.

the cap1 bowl blows dicks but then again the aggies enjoy that sort of thing

Back to the OP - Cotton Bowl CEO said the bowl wanted A&M badly. It really comes down to the Cap 1 having first pick. It's unfortunate that the selection pecking order works out that way but it's really not that big of a deal.

It's not a BCS bowl. So who gives a frick about the difference in "prestige" ( ) between the two.

Jerry's palace is likely much nicer, but going there once as a novelty is more than enough. From a fan/game perspective it is a pretty average venue. Railgunning whatever little 10 sacrificial lamb gets offered up would be great. Playing a more "national" game against Michigan is not much of a step down imo.

Well I just think that Cotton Bowl is the better bowl now IMO given the venue you are at and since neither are BCS bowls I would chose cotton over cap one fwiw

I would much rather be in Orlando in January than Dallas.
