Lol. So being a small all-male military academy for over half that time doesn't change the dynamic? Not at all?

South Carolina has benefited enormously from the decline of the SEC East. I am not sure that situation is going to last much longer either.

And what happened in 1960 is totally the same scenario in what's happening right now

And A&M has tremendous built in advantages South Carolina will NEVER come close to having.

This is very true. Florida and Georgia being down helps them a ton as well as having KY and Vandy in the mix. The west won't have this issue any time in the near future.

Well it's even worse lately.
A&M's top 10 finish in 2012 was the first since 1994.
So that is once in the last 18 years.

A&M may get there in a couple years, but to say right now they are a perennial top 10 is not true. There aren't very many perennial top 10 teams.

Maybe so maybe not. Most of the 2015 class in Texas will commit before the next season. They have no recruiting momentum, so we are leading for most of the talent.
It is far more important we win then they lose, as its harder to flip guys than keep them.
With that said, I [bias alert] don't think Charlie Strong is going to do what the great Saban couldn't- stop Big 12 offenses every week[/bias alert].

Well we be top 10 next year? Probably not. Going forward? As good of a chance as anyone else

aTm will compete each year for a spot in the top 10. Before I would ever say yes, I need to see them stop the run and be able to pound the ball consistently against the LSU, Bama, Auburn and everyone else in the SEC.
They are setting their selves up to be in that position though.

no can't be a top 10 team if they are the flagships bitch

I see what your saying but the guy is one of the best ever. Look at the other recent great QB's. Cam, Tebow, Winston to name a few. They all have something in common. A&M was not a good team IMO they just happen to have one stud that won several games single handedly. Once said stud is gone, it will be interesting to see if Sumlin is worth all that cash.

Truth. Very few. Even the ones that sometimes reach that height, usually fall back to earth and wouldn't be considered perennial top 10 anymore.
I guess it depends on what you mean by "perennial."
Are you basically just asking who the top 10 teams will be over the next few years? That's kind of a different question.
But there aren't 10 teams that are "perennially" in the top 10.
Alabama has 6 top 10s in a row. I don't think perennial means every year like that, but I would think probably averaging 2 out of every 3 years for a period of time or something along those lines would fit the definition.

If A&M was still in the Big 12 id agree. Hell theyd be in the playoff every year. I don't even see them going 2-4 against AU,UA,OM,and LSU for the next few years. Gonna take more than 2 recruiting classes to fix that D.

I think most people are going to be surprised by how good well be in 2015

I think you guys will be more competitive in 15 than next year. The west is going to be extremely tough in the following years even with the loses at QB at various schools. I think next year will be a tough one for A&M though.

If they can maintain stability and elite talent along the offensive line like they have the past two seasons, they should be a power for the foreseeable future.
Sumlin is a good coach whose system, when the QB is amply protected, is deadly.
Take a look at their OL recruiting the past three cycles and their commitments for the 2015 class and it's easy to see that Sumlin may be building something special in College Station.
A&M OL recruiting
2015 - 1 four-star OL
2014 - 3 four-star OL, 1 3-star OL
2013 - 1 four-star OL, 3 3-star OL
2012 - 1 four-star OL, 2 3-star OL
Totals - 6 four-star OL, 6 three-star OL
That's quality depth and talent, IMO.
